Help on these please...(182 Related)

Earlier in the trip today down to chester, the ESP light came on the dashboard as it was switched on...so no problems their.

2hrs later im coming along the M56 coming to the M53 turning to goto chester. The surface is dry so i accelerate up too 90-100mph ish to take the nice sweeping left..get half way round and the STOP light comes on and the ((!)) one comes on too, though the car is still running, i checked the handbrake and it was down, and the fault went away. Could be that i was putting some G force into the car....Anyone had this.?

How do you use the headlamp wiper wash.?

How you make the alarm beep.? Mine beeped once in the 4 hrs ive had it..and it made 3 beeps.?

Other 2 probs dont know mate, headlamp wash works automatically when rhe lights are on and you wash windscreen

headlamp wash is activated when you hold the windscreen washers on when the headlamps are on.

the esp issue may be a faulty sensor or software glitch would be best to take it to the dealer to get it on a diagnostic computer.

alarm shouldnt beep from the factory, you may be able to turn this on and off but my 172 and 182 never beeps unless the alarm has been triggered and only then when you disarm it on your return to the car.

low fluid levels/pad wear + long sweeping corners cause this to happen.

clean the screen with the lights on

Ok, well the alarm beeped before when i set it.?

The car just been serviced so levels should be ok. Ill monitor it and try to reproduce the fault.

Had no idea with the lights washer, could not find a button anywhere..

On my 172 when the dipped beam is ON and you pull the right hand stalk towards you to operate the washer jets for the windscreen the jets for the front lights come on at the same time. You should be able to hear them working.

Erm, i hear noise coming from the passenger door area when i drive....maybe needs a door seal or something.

Also the rear wash has poor flow compared to my other clio, unless it has a seperate bottle. But should of been filled on the service..

Im too picky.......

use the search function (top right) to look for each fault seprately they are both common problems with the 182 non major though!

I tried search and it times out error so hence the post.

I got nothing to do tomorrow so ill go annoy the local renault dealer...
 


brief heads up is alarm three beep thing occurs both when you shut the door and press the button too soon i.e just before or as soon as the door shuts. it needs a bit of time to sort itself before it arms so dont do it in a rush and it should be ok.

however it has also been a reoccuring problem (both me and lee have had it) mine was fixed by a dealer his wasnt.

warning lights coming on has occured for people but mainly just after collection most likely due to the ecu getting confused with the funny angles on the transporter.

a reset of the ecu has cured the problem in most cases

Im gonna contact the previous owner when the V5 comes through (as in write a letter), ask them about any problems they had etc. Its on 12k now..

pads and discs could be worn hence the levels issue tom mentioned, could easily be well worn if driven hard by the previous owner
 


sorry no new answers for you, but, i know exactly the bend your on about.

When im at work i use it every day going to Broughton.

Pity the 53 is only 2 lanes though.

Im not going to book it in, just wanna ask then questions as to what it could be and is it safe etc. If they say its safe, and its not and i crash, then im covered...if you know what i mean.?

Up to them if they wanna look at it. I will give them the offer, im not going to stop using the car because its got a light...their open and i was told if i have any problems, not to be a stranger..:)

My uncle wants a go in the 182, so its on the way to his...could not be any better..
 


The alarm thing is a fault where it beeps 3 times but its of no consequence, mine does it very occasionaly and it still locks both doors & boot so I can put up with it, I might mention the tech code to Renault when I take it in for the serivce though.

A golf come up my side, so i decided to give it some, car would of gone more but that light spooked me, looked like it stalled with the STOP, but no engine management lights..and that ((!)) light... Maybe a engine cut out brake servo failure etc..? i dunno..ill ask as above as im unsure and if things do go pete tong..i wanna be getting me £££ off renault, and not my insurance company. Used cars should be of a certain standard, and id think that the dealer did check them when serviced...and sold on too me.

Gotta inspect the car in the morning for any bodywork probs for him to arrange them polishing out.

I assumed the STOP warning light was a sign of the ESP kicking in, but i think thats the Anti_Skid light on the dash..

I thought it would be faster than it is. A bit of a let down really. The handling is ok...it will grow on me as it sticks out like a sore thumb.

I stopped at the traffic lights outside wetherspoons in town. 3 scooter thingy people stopped next to me and were reading the stickers from off my door. The white stripes across the roof and bonnet make me look a cu*t...

Alls i need now is a extra large sound system, and a different exhaust to complete the setup.

Suppose it gives people something to read in traffic...

Are you sure its not from under the passengers dash? The electics for the car are stored there and the relays can click on and off with the auto wipers etc its just normal Clio.

By the way use Speed six in Wrexham the other local dealers are usless. (Ive tried them all).

Thats junction is excellent though only 90 though I take it you were keeping the speed down rarther than being forced to by the road?

Anyway the local roads round Chester/Wales are good for a laugh and Oulton parks not far away to realy test the car.

when taking a sweeping long bend at speed the dashboard will light up as I had it on the same corner everytime i went round it at Spa.
The only thing I could see that was low was the brake fluid which had been destroyed and needed changing to a higher dot due to my track daying of it, that was at 12k so maybe you have the same thing, need to have a brake fluid change due to it being track dayed, and if you are going to take it on further track days it is wise to get 5dot (i think) which is better suited to that type of driving.

Also i was coming along the A483 (wrexham bypass) in 4th gear about 5,000 rpm when it came on again. I tried to rev it hard again and it did not shows its face. Ive had a look round the car today as the dealer said..and this is more probs.

The 2 rear alloys have chips in them.

The front left has been kerbed...not by me..

Their are dents in the bonnet from closing it

The rear bumper has scratches too..

Their are 2 dents in the roof from the sale sign

Their are scratches on the left hand quarter panel near the passenger door down to the white.

Their is a scratch on the right hand wing.

The bumper left hand corner has been scraped, and its scratched lower down.

The filler cap is scratched too...

& the front splitter is still missing.....



They aint gonna like me are they...

sorry to hear all this mate.... but u gotta remember....

u bought the car as "used".... and it sounds like its in "used" condition.

Their are dents in the bonnet from closing it This is a common problem from people dropping the bonnet gently then pushing it closes. IMO its a sign of a good driver so nothing to be worried about at all.
Be careful though that A483 is where the police hang out loads of people have been caugt out there popular place is the flyover bridge just before the road bends round and goes up the hill to Wrexham. Ive seen the police there a few times, ever time Im doing more than 70 it seems but Im not going that fast for them to book me (well Ive never had anything in the post).

A forum member though got clocked at 98 or something a while back and lost his licence.

Dealer said to inspect it for bodywork damage, the dents will prob not be removed, but the ones we spotted like the wing damage etc would be polished as he said. I cant see it being much more bother doing them all...while their their.

The main concern is the wheels as they gonna be expensive to get done if i have to pay the price. He said the splitter was not needed, but ill push for it. Its a case of £10,500 for a car, i would like it to be near perfect as its not a 9-10 year old car.

Any help is a bonus as id like to know if they had this fault with the car...

Can you be sure its the owner.?
 
  Scruffy blue 182


Id get them to fix the scratches - when they inspect it for the anti-corrosion warranty they could end up saying they need repairing anyway - then you need to pay for the repair!

Im convinced its the same car - there aint going to be many racing blue 182s with stripes and the stickers on the doors in the north east, especially as the one that I pass every day aint there anymore. Give me five minutes as I cant remember the house number...

I seen a 182 in the auto trader for £11,200 with 2,000 miles on the clock, so if i sell it in a year i cant see myself losing too much cash, the stickers and the striped make it a key selling point i think...

Was looking for R182 CUP plate before, could only find R13 CUP which aint right. not releasing R182s on the DVLA site yet..

W4YNE is £29,000 so i cant afford that right yet..
