Help please xp desktop!!

Was downloading and desktop changed so my icons aren't see-through any more! Just blocks of colour which look very windows 95!!
Cant find how to change it back anywhere??

Also did AVG scan and have 3 items saying 'change' in the results, two .dll files and one .exe, all system32 files.
Any ideas people??

Check the display properties:

-Right Click on your desktop and click properties
-Check the colour depth and make sure it's set to something like 16 or 32bit

tried that its at 32bit

god its annoying, like stepping back in time!

  3. Click the Advanced tab
  4. Click Settings in the Performance section
  5. Check the "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" checkbox
  6. Click OK until you close the windows
