Help! rad fan stopped working

Hi it seems that my radiator fan has stopped working because when i usually stop the car after a drive the fan will kick in , but its not coming on does any one know what this could be , ive checked the switch and its plugged in still , it seems to have stopped working since i fitted the standard air box and rigged up a cold air feed , i had to disconnect the battery to get the pipercross induction kit off ....so im wondering if this could of affected it?

Anyone got any ideas what could be wrong , and if the fan/motor is buggered how easy are they to fit and where from?

Cheers Rich.

Which switch have you checked?

Should check: +/- to the fan + connection to the temp sensor (its the one that sits the lowest in the thermostat housing, not the one in the radiator)

If the fan/moter is buggered, it is easyist to change it with the radiator out. You need to remove hoses, and the upper metal part/front member.

But start by checking the connections and maybe measure across the thermostat to see if its got the correct resistance when hot/cold.

well my valver hardly ever goes up to half way on the water temp but this morning it was goin up to half and the fan was not kicking in after driving it for 10-15 mins , but i just been out and fiddled with some wires and unplugged switches and plugged them back in , i been for a 20 min drive got home and the fan started working !!

Easy way to check the fan is to leave the car parked with the engine running and wait until the fan kicks in.

Its a clio! Take it for a thrashing, then park up with the engine running and wait for the fan to kick in.

just thought id say that it is the temp sensor the rad that controls the fan not the other 1 as i only replaced mine a few weeks bk.

handy tip for trhe future to check is to take the plug of the temp sensor in the side of the rad and bridge the terminals the fan will start up if its working.

or just buy a haynes manual it covers all this in there
