help throttle body.

  CLIO 172 CUP....
well iv seen a few post up about throttle body not opening properly when accelation so i fort i would have a look at mine so i took the pipe off of the throttle body then turned the keys so the ignition was on then got my cousin to press on the accelater slowly. now as he is press down on it slowly my butter fly didnt open at all untill he foot got near a nuff right down to the floor then it just springed opened really fast so it was open fully.. now im on the under standing the slower you accelat the slower the butter fly will move..(am i right here)..cause all other cars iv had have the butter fly would open as soon as you start to press the pedle....so wot im asking is. is this ment to happen on these clio 172 cups.

also i have just been down to jms tuning to have aloo as i only live 5min from ther even no thay were shut you can still drive around the back..

any help on the problem with the throttle will be grate..

cheers guys.

sounds normal, the engine isn't running, so it won't work as it should with the engine running, PLUS it controls the idle too, so it does do its own thing compared to what your foot does

Couldn't it be because it's become a bit sticky with oily gunge?

Is what you say, Fred only true for the electronic throttles? On the ph1 172 is it a bit more mechanical - you operate the pedal and the cable opens and shuts a valve.

yeah the electronic (aka FBW) stuff does its own thing, the phs1 "classic setup" is a cable attached between the pedal and the throttle body, it does what your foot tells it to do

Excellent. I had always felt I wanted a 172 without proper brakes, but this is another reason to be cheerful.
