help! trying to connect to itunes

so i've bought a 3gs and im told its unlocked to any network.

i've downloaded itunes, tryed to connect and this message has come up


'The sim card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported.

only compatible sim cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iphone. please insert the sim card that came with your iphone or visit a supported carrier's store to receive a replacement sim card.'


so is their any easy way around this?

does this mean it is locked to another network?

im on orange if that helps

Is your sim from a reasonably old phone?

no its from a nearly new htc wildfire s and the sim is just over a year old...

Can you update iOS, think that may be the problem if it wasn't updated before, think it's 5.1 now.

i cant go on the phone to do anything atm. when i turn it on it just comes up saying connect to itunes

I'd phone Orange then mate, make sure you've got the right sim.

Ok ill give them a buzz soon, think before I'm going to try a o2 sim as that what network the previous was using

its locked to o2. simple as that.

Yeah your right tom I put a o2 sim in and had no problems

Guess it is locked to o2, oh well.
