HELP! Wearing in/ engine cooldown

  Glacier White RS200
So it's finally arrived! The new rs is parked up in the drive and I'm weary about wearing the engine in! Renault suggest easy for 1000miles but other state hard, makes no sense tho. She's nearly at 700miles and I've been pretty gentle, giving her a little kick every now and again ;) but what's the general opinion?

Also engine cooldown? She gets hot, even after a lil cruise to the shops, no thrashing! It gets warmed up before setting out and I let her idle for a min or so when I'm back but just wondering what's the best way as there are many diff suggestions... :s

Yeah if it's not a turbo'd car it won't help you idling it for a minute. In fact, leaving a modern car idling is not good for it.

Just try not to over rev it when running it in. Keep under around 4K for the first 500miles, then ease it up. Cool down wise, not really much need to be honest. If you're really bothered, just wack the heater on full to aid the cooling.

  172 cup, Impreza P1
Drive gentle for a about 5 mins if you have been red lining every gear for a while but cooling down a turbo car is to get the hot oil out the turbo not the engine.

I was told by the dealer when I bought my 172 cup new that the F4R engine doesn't need run in as the tolerances as so good that they are good to be driven hard from the start. So obviously I didn't listen to them and took it easy (below 4k for 500 miles) and then pushed a bit harder for the next 500miles.

Letting the oil heat up takes longet than you think. Roughly 10 mins after the water is to temp the oil will be too with normal town driving.
