Help with backing up DVDs.

Basically I have a hard drive and I am looking to back up my DVDs so I can also use them via a WD media player.

I have just tried using DVD shrink and it converts it all to vob. Files which my laptop won't reconise or play.

I am not very techy so I don't have a clue what I need to do, I would ideally like them to be mpeg4 if possible.

AFAIK DVD Shrink has the option to rip to iso.

WDTV will play an iso. It will also play vobs.
