tried both mate,iv read posts saying its really easy, but iv tried finding the botom of the bolt that runs through the mount, but if i hold it it doesnt make any difference?!

iv got my car in bits so pls some1 help!

right iv figured out the bolt has a nut top and bottom,so when i hold the top nut,the bottom one undoes, but when i hold the bottom one the top one wont undoo,it just makes the bottom nut move! how do i hold the bolt still to undoo the top nut??

put a spanner on the nut and a ratchet+socket on the bolt, turn one or both anti-clockwise (as you face them)

if it is really tight, get someone else to hold the spanner on the nut and then put all your strength into the bolt wth the ratchet.

im doing mine in the morning!

u can get a spanner on the bottom, but as soon as pressure is applied on the nut on top,the nut on the bottom undoes again?!

i cant stop the bolt itself from moving

Have you got a big vice clamp on a workbench?

If you can get it out clamp it and undo it.

Yeah just put your car (on its side) on the bench and try to get the stud in the vice!

Anyway......

Sorry i thought it was a nut and bolt.

Have you got any mole grips or swan necks, you could try gripping the stud with these, but be careful not to nacker the threads up.

you can also try getting another two nuts of the same thread and doing them up against each other on the stud. this will give you another 'clamp' which you can put a spanner on and then undo the 'top nut' which is actually holding the mount down with another spanner. if you know what i mean. (looking at the picture there may not be enough room or thread to do this.

good ideas guys but u cant put another nut on the bottom of the stud,iv tried gripping the stud but it looks like it will damage the threads?

any of the pro's have an idea?

what do you mean? i am a pro! ;)

will be taking mine apart later will let you know if I can come upwith a solution for you.

will the bottom nut come right off?

  53 Clio's & counting
lol only jokin matey ;)

yes the bottom nut will come off but u wont get it bk on,there is just enough space to get an open ended spanner on it,oh word of warning u will need an open ended 18mm spanner to do the bottom nut and a 18mm socket to grip the top

the guys at work suggest using a zip gun to jerk the top nut off?

air gun! my compressor has packed up, so can't use the gun.

why don't just hold the bottom nut with the spanner, undo the stud so it comes right out, then take the top nut off when stud is out of the car (you won't even actually need to do this).

when you put it back in just hold the bottom nut in position and screw the stud into it.

i cant because there is no room undeneath to hold the nut matey, there is barely enough room to get the spanner on the bottom nut,so if u did get the bottom nut off,u cant get ur fingers in to put the nut back onto the bottom of the stud

im taking a battery powered zip gun home tonight so hopefully that will do it

i know, i realised that today at bedford autodrome, in the dry.

i changed both the gearbox and top engine mounts.

does not knock as bad though.

Is it the defo the gearbox banging, I had something similar, turned out it was the exhaust collecting the subframe lol

^^^

yes i think that is my case to. i managed to bend the heatshield a bit to reduce, but it has not completly gone.

my gearbox mount was defintely knackered though.
