help with power to wieght etc

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
if a clio was 250hp on the standard weight of 1080? ( is that a psh1 weighs? then what power to wieght..

then how many KGs would you need to loose to gain ONE horse power in power to wieght?

oh and you work this out for standard power of 168hp with standard wieght then how many kGs to loose to gain ONE horse power in standard form?

  80MPG BEEZA
really you need the car weighing 1000kg so every 1bhp you gain is a full 1bhp per tonne

  RSC 182 Cup
I think I worked out that for a 182 (1090kg's) you gain the equivelant of 1bhp every 6kg's you reduce the cars weight by.

By removing my rear interior I've saved 27kg's so thats 4.5bhp for free. And with the new 15" TeamDynamics ProRace1's I'll be saving another ~14kg. Just wish we were legaly allowed to change the seats in the Clio's in aus, stupid airbags!

A standard FF 172 would need 203bhp to get to the bhp/ton ratio my Cup (975 kg + 179 bhp) has :approve:

Weight is the enemy of everything...not just straight-line speed, but fuel economy, tyre and brake wear, handling etc...best thing you can do is remove weight.

How the hell did you get a cup to 975kg?
Is that a guess or a weighbridge figure?

Ph1 weighs 1035kg afaik.

The rear seats do not weigh 27.5kg in a 182. Not in a million years.

It's a guess Tom.

From fully fitted, to this...got to be 46kgs taken from there - the lower seatbelt mountings and speakers alone are almost 5kgs. Then there's the parcel shelf, seats, all the trim, the screws...

Rich-D weighed the rears of the 172 Cup i.e parcel shelf, both parts of rear seats, that heavy bar (iso fix?) and boot carpet and it came to 25kgs iirc

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
there lots of other bits which a t agues is 8kgs worth of bolts, cable, nuts, covers, grommets, air con rad etc

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
200kg ish. maybe more.

so plus my cage and two carbon fibre seats , all frames etc call it 40kgs back on

=

1035 - 200 = 835 + 40 = 875kgs

----------------------------------
performance from http://www.letstorquebhp.com/calculator.asp

so with 240 bhp n/a =

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 245Weight without Driver (KG) : 875Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 284.500 - 60 (Secs) : 4.650 - 100 (Secs) : 11.0660 - 100 (Secs) : 6.40Quarter Mile (Secs) : 13.01Terminal Speed (MPH) : 108.47Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 12.81Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 110.49

then with the 120 hp shot of N20 (call it 100hp as they never make the book figure)

= 345hp

=

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 345Weight without Driver (KG) : 875Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 400.620 - 60 (Secs) : 4.170 - 100 (Secs) : 9.2360 - 100 (Secs) : 5.06Quarter Mile (Secs) : 12.43Terminal Speed (MPH) : 116.03Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 12.23Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 118.20

ben your roll cage weighs around 50kg never mind 40kgs for your cage and seats! hence why im going for the 30kg cage and not the 50kg one :) lol and my seats are about 8kg each, alot lighter then what the originals were plus all mountings for the oe seats

and fred said the cup didnt come with tar liner in it, if you look at mark's cup above you can see tar on the inside panel!

Would be very tough to get a 172 down to below 850.....you would need to do pretty much everything in the weight saving book! I've dropped my civic from 990 to 820 with only lightweight battery, bit of cutting and polycarbs left to do...might just get below 800.

  80MPG BEEZA
ohh right i remember now like underneath the wiper arms under the plastic got ya i'll have to have a nosey in there me thinks, and im sure i can get my car down to 850kg's
