HELP

  Skoda Fabia vRS

ive got a problem guys with my car

it doesnt happen all the time, but lately its happenin a lot

what happens is, when i come up to a junction, instead of going to idle, the revs drop below what they should be, and usually slowly go back to idle speed

i had a very similar problem back in January, but it would cut out sometimes then, i ended up with a new idle motor and ECU, which fixed it for a few months perfectly

ive just had a diagnostic done on my car, and they said everythin has checked out fine, so i dunno what to do now to fix it, as i dont know whats causing the problem

i spoke to Nick Hill and he said it might be a faulty lambda sensor, ill be asking the garage in a minute when i pick my car up if they have checked that, if they havent is there any way i can check it myself ?

another possible thought is back pressure, as it doesnt usually tend to happen when ive had the revs high, it usually happens when the revs have been low coming to the junction, and my exhaust is completely straight through until the back box, Nick also said that the lambda might not be working properly because of this, possibly due to the lack of heat building up ? (i think thats what he said)

can anyone offer me any ideas, or help, or anything !!!

just spoke to david at K-Tec, and he doesnt think the exhaust system would be the problem, he did say to check all the vacuum hoses on the car, funny he should say that due to me having an ecotek, well, had, removed it now

i think im gonna reset the ecu when i get it back and see whats what

So M8, David likes the ecotec too lol ???..

I would agree with Nick H that the lamda could be the culprit, but it is possibly more simple than that.

dump the ecotec, check the hoses, and also check the oil breather as it may be causing problems. Check the oil breather pipes for kinking and blockage by crap.

Hope ya get it sorted. - shame ya aint nearer as I could take a look for ya.

Joe.

hi Joe, i have got rid of it, sold it actually, i remembered back to my little tests i was doin with it, do you remember when i said that closin it had fixed it, well i did the odd ECU reset then, and i forgot to reset it afterwards, so ive just reset it now and been for a drive, i dont wanna tempt fate but, its better, by a lot if you get me, im not gonna say its fixed cos i cant afford anymore problems hehe

 its back !!!

reset ECU and it was all runnin perfect, i was well happy, then i hit some traffic on the M62, it starts again, and its doin it all the time again now

im gonna check my vacuum hoses tomorrow, anyone got any other ideas, it doesnt happen when im stationary, just when coming to a junction, possibly braking related ?

well its happened when stationary tonight

now i reset the ecu however, it seems fine when cold, and gradually gets worse when warmed up

anyone got any ideas why this could be ?

A sh*t engine.......

mine did it all the time, so its in my garage on the bench........OUT OF MY CAR WHERE IT NO LONGER DOES IT>>LOL

i wouldnt let it bother you too much, if it holds the idle (just) and its just a low rpm thing........oh well....its an RT thing i guess.

I had a similear problem with an Escort I had, whenever I stopped at a junction the revs would drop to below idle and sometimes the car would stall. Then it started to happen when I dropped the clutch to change gear. Final symptom was that the car would attempt to recover itself and thus sit at a junction reving itself (got into all sorts of races because of that car).

My dad is a mechanic and employs a team of mechanics none of them solved the problem. Even fords diagnosis showed nothing. Eventually sold the car for a Rover that was a hell of a lot better.

I know how frustrating this kind of problem is. You have my sympathy.

jus changed the coolant temp sensor and took it for a drive, early indications are good, but i cant help be suspicious that the problem will return as it was temperamental anywayz

the parts guy at Renault said mine was the 10th coolant temp sensor hed sold today

well, the problem didnt go away though the car did seem better with the new sensor

ive just put my OE airbox back on and drove around my area, the problem has gone completely and i dont feel any signs of it coming back, with my cold air feed the car doesnt seem any slower either, though because of my chip its using a fair amount of petrol

hmmm, done some more testing today and this time i feel it may be the alternator, or part of it causing my problem
