Hesitating 172???

  K20 EG Hatch
Any idea what this could be:

The car drives ok but when your doing low rpm and put your foot down or just feather it from low rpm the engine really hesitates like its getting no fuel or running out of fuel.

Its really annoying and if you keep it above 2k rpm its absolutely fine but if your cruising at low rpm it just plkays up!

Cheers

what is the difference between v-power and normal unleaded, if i put v-power in my 1.6 8v golf you think it could do any damage?

its just 6month ago i put a fivers of it in and a week later i needed the fuel pump replacing due to one of the pipes cracking and a pool of petrol appeared under my back seat. not good, im not saying it was the V-POWER but i dunno. i just thought it may be like a higher concentrate than other petrol therefor requireing a stronger fuel system to cope with it.
or somert like that

Common apperently, think it's something to do with the fuel pump... does the idle move up and down? Mine was doing this, mentioned to a mechanic and he said every 182 did it.

Mine was doing simliar before last service.... now it idles smoothly at 500rpm :quiet:

Also has it an open IK? Could be heat soak.... worth noting.

I am suffering of this very same problem, car hesitates in any gear under 2,000 rpms.

Any ideas? If I keep it above 2,000 it runs perfectly fine, it does this since last night, cold or hot.

I pulled out the MAP connector and start the car, the car will take hard to start and ESP and SERV light will remain on. I then connected back the MAP and the car is running fine now, I just had the chance to drive it a few meters, but stopped hesitation. Is my MAP giving UP???

Please give some light here

when i swapped exhausts on mine, i couldnt get it to seal right, and it was very hesitant from low revs. took it to a garage and got it all sealed and the problem disappeared. So could be to do with the exhaust

It sounds like my old 172.

Needed coil pack and HT leads and was sweet after that.

Thanks Daniel, HT leads are new (2 months or so), coil pack could be. Will check exhaust and will clean all sensors with WD40 or something similar.
