hi-spec brakes

  Burgandy 174 sport t
can anyone tell me if it is possible to get hi-spec brakes onto a clio 172, they are currently on a pulsar, is it just a case of getting brackets made up to fit the clio, or are there companies that make them already?

fred U have hi-spec dont ya?

Freds selling the Hi-spec brakes with the brackets etc.
It should just be a matter of having the brackets made up.

I think there still looking for a test car.
Have a look at Yozzapsort (the links usually on the top of the page) give them a ring and see what thy say.
The kits not cheap though but its still great value if your doing a lot of track days as you won't wear though disks and pads to quick.

iirc was going ot be around £400 for calipers and the stuff to fit them, will run off standard discs as well.

You need to work out there size etc.
Measure the 172 hub then get the drawings for the calipers and work out where to posititon the caliepr then get a local enginerring place to build up a bracket.
I've got a 172 hub here I'll get the measurements you need from it tomorrow.

Buy Brembo's. Hi-spec are poor mans upgrades,

You are right in a way, Hi Spec don't get anywhere near the strength of a Brembo/AP caliper but then cost reflects this. If you are an occasional track day goer then they probably make the most sense. It's only when you get to racing then you'll see problems.

nowt wrong with the hispecs, i've been running them for 40Kmiles now (including track)

much better than stock 172calipers

brembos are a rich mans upgrade though.

Over 1k on your front brake setup is alot.

£500 for a set of 4 pot calipers is a bit more realistic.

IIRC you can get them cheaper than that. Godspeed - however bad their rep is can supply and fit cheaper than 1k.

Maybe, but they will still be double the price.

If Fred does the calipers and brackets for £500. He hasnt said how much yet.

Whatever happened to wilwoods anyway?

I remember trying to get a set of these for my 182, but the std disc is a bit too thick to fit the calipers I wanted.

Hmm...

But you get what you pay for... Ferraris are expensive, doesn't mean they're not worth it ;)

So are you saying people shouldn't buy your upgrade then Fred? ;)

You could probably find a 4x4 which will stop almost as quick, the question is, how many times can it do it?! :p

as i said std brakes mate, try that 10 times in a row and it'll take you 1/2 an hour to stop from 100! LOL

try it 10 times in a row with hispecs, i bet you £100 you could get out and touch the calipers and stop in aorund the same times

you don't NEED 4pots, but people want them, our 230bhp demo car doesn't have 4pots, BB's 172turbo dosn't have 4pots

hmmmmmm......always bin s**t in the past....well over the last 6 or 7 years.....not sure wot there like now tho. willwoods are the cheap option on 4 pots IMO, then owt more, u lookin at ap, the tarox 6 pots sposed b ok

^^

I believe there was a supply issue (I may be talking b****cks here), but if it's from Yozzasport then you deal directly with them so not a problem?

Also, I think one person had a siezed caliper ages ago... big deal - std renault ones seize/melt all the time! :S

Anyways... I'll keep an eye out on the site for them. :)
