High pitched noise - valver

  Valver

Test drove a valver earlier today, J reg, seemed ok part from a few minor things. But there was a high pitched noise coming from the passenger side at about 3k revs, seemed to be coming from under the dash really... Any ideas?
Cheers

Sounds like usual induction noise.

For some reason they just seem particularly loud and cant have a great deal of sound deadening in there.

hmm you sure? It was REALLY loud high pitched, surely it isnt meant to sound like that? :S could there be a hole in the air intake or something?

Did it have an induction kit, or the standard air box ?
i cant comment on a valver with an I/K but mine was standard, with the standard air box & it did not make any high pitched noises at all.

Bit of a long shot - did the car have an amp wired up?
as if you put the power lead & the earth next to each other (down the sill) that will make a high pitched noise with the revs, the high pitched noise is interferance between the two leads.

Ive notcied that my new exhaust which was knocking a bit made this sort of noise at 3k revs. I dont know if it was due to it knocking at a really high frequency or what but it seems to have gone since I sorted the exhaust to stop knocking. Mine is a Mk1 1.4RT by the way.

My valver used to make a noise that went up with the revs, that came out of the front speakers!

Sounds like it could be a blocked heater matrix? (random, I know...)

That was the theory behind why mine (which was the exs at the time) did it and it hasnt done it since since getting the coolant and everything properly flushed. (Might even have had a new matrix but I cant remember...)

I know the amp related noise and its definately not that, dont think it has an amp actually... Only coming from the passenger side and seems either under the dash or on that part in the engine bay. Cant seem to really hear it from out side the car either!

The exhuast is relating but due to a missing bracket but that makes a clonking noise :S
