High speed noise

  ClioSport 182

Has anyone found a solution to the high speed noise which kicks in around 110 mph. I seem to remember that it might have been related to the air con or something. It is like a whistle/buzz drone sound.KnightAzul

Hmmm, i can see this getting edited or deleted, lol.

As for the noise, on one of the wing mirrors youll see the temp sensor underneath it. On the opposite side, renault handily didnt fill in the hole (the sensor seems to swap sides in Europe) so if you tape that up it will stop some of the whistle. Otherwise, no idea

Why? What I do on my private motorway with my friends is my business.

because of course, youd own a renault clio if you owned your own private motorway ;)

also youd know which z4 you were allegedly racing against by being able to speak to the driver before he left the private land obviously owned by yourself

:p

It wasnt a dig mate, it was a comment on the current climate of this site. Its part racing tale which isnt allowed. As for owning a private motorway, can we have cliosport meet on it so we can all have a go?

Yeah, its a loud whistle/drone which is why it is so off putting when you need all of your concentration!!

blink172: Sorry, if my reply was a little short. It wasnt really meant that way!

You should see my other cars being a rich bast*ard owning a private motorway and all! I just use the clio for warming up the tarmac ... ;)

KnightAzul. The mods are not stuipd (seriously, were not ;))

If you want to ask about a whistling noise fair enough.. the racing tale has to go though.

OK, I finally narrowed this one down to the holes on the underside of the wingmirrors, as some of the people on the forum suggested that it might be. I taped up both holes on either side and went for a spin. No loud whistle/buzz drone sound at "high" speed.

Great stuff. Now just need to narrow it down further to which wingmirror is the offending one.

Apart from using non-colour matching masking tape as I have done now... what is a good neat solution for filling or covering the hole?

A non permanent solution would be electrical tape. A permanent solution would be to remove the cover and fill the hole with fibreglass, or you could use filler and the paint over it with spray paint and gloss available from halfords.

Glad my advice helped, let me know how it goes

How do I get the wingmirror cover off, it looks like I need to lever it with a screwdriver somewhere

Ill go with the permanent solution.
