HMMMM!!! deep in thought!!!

  2004 Racing Blue 182

ive been having a sh*tty night at work tonight so thought i would come on here now ive finished and share my ponderments(think thats a word, if notit is now!!!)
with u all!

i currently have a valver with k&n and magnex back box, now i was thinking of going down the willy engine route but iwas wondering if there were any other 2.0l engines which would produce more power, now thinking straght away of the obvious ones i.e. the mk1/2 172, however, not sure it would go in, and would be a bugger to source the engine and box from one.

i have heard from a guy at work who is pretty clued up on his cars, that there was once not so long ago a renault 21 with a 2.0 turbo engine which proguced in the region of 170-180bhp, can anyone verify this for me, and would that fit snugly in the engine bay of my beloved valver, cause she is crying out for more of those little ponies!

I wouldnt have thought it would be too difficult to source a 172 engine - there are so many Cups being written off at the moment. Would it fit? Who knows, I guess the work involved would be non-trivial to say the least.

I think pmitchell had a scrap Cup a couple of weeks ago.

Unlikely to get the 172 engine in as its taller so the bonnet wouldnt close - it hardly does at the moment anyway! As for the 2.0 21 turbo engine i dont think itd go in either as i think theyre mounted differently (longitudely instead of transversely or something - apologies to the techies out there!) and also i think the reliability of those engines were a bit sketchy!

TBH the willy route wont really give you the power increase i think ur after so youd be better (and cheaper) with a 5 turbo transplant or better still getting a turbo conversion on your valver.....both would be sweet

If you going to try and get a 172 engine in the space why not squeeze the 2 liter turbo there instead for more potential power.

I would think the best idea for some power would be a engien transplant with a GTT 180~200hp is easy to atain.

How about puttin another engine in the car for omehting different. 2* 1.8 would push some real power out. Not sure how it would handle as the MTM guys have problems with their twin engined Audi

id go the 5gt route, not reliable but go for a full rebuild and uprated parts and tuning parts and look in the region of 200bph+

that should be fast, imagine the weight the 16v looses when that phat engine moves out!
