Hobbit619's Naughty Blue 1.2

Hi all,

As I'm always on here I thought I might as well add my project to the pile. Here she is, £1700 she set me back, which is not bad considering the age and that she had only done 59k!

IMG_20130106_122753_zps95fdd5b8.jpg

I thought I would keep it standard to keep the sell on value, but my boy racer side got the better of me. My plans were never make it sound stupid or think things will make it go faster, all I wanted was a noice looking ride.

First I set about a RS grill to improve the front end

IMG_20130119_132208_zpsf58253c6.jpg

I also added a dynamique spoiler silverions and cliosport seats from my old clio but forgot the photos for them

Here she is on the sea front in a half decent photo op of how she was

I was enjoying her how she was, but I had a grande before her, and it had dual optics and xenons which i missed dearly so that was my next upgrade. I ignored everyone on here and couriered them down as I'm miles away from a lot of people and magically they arrived in one piece! :D The bumper was a ballache to get off as the previous owner must have fiddled with it, but got it off eventually and got the xenons in and I love them!

Gave her a quick clean with a jet washer the other day and she looked quite nice

But my favourite pic so far is from the top of the local shopping centre over looking my uni in the sunshine

So that's where it is now, I have got a set of clio alloys to put on, but are in need of a referb and I have a load of exams soon so they will have to wait :dapprove: I have also got a set of side strips primed and ready to be sprayed, again when I have the time. My other plans are to neaten things up and tidy the bodywork a bit, as it needs a bit of tlc. Just today I had some w****r on a scooter go into the back of me today and drive off! I got his licence plate number though and there is CCTV in the area, so what he was thinking I'll never know! Hopefully the strong arm of the law will help me out here, the damage isn't bad, but it's the fact he drove off!

Anyway, enough of my problems, I have tried some carbon wrapping with the interior strips but really can't get them right, especially on the one near the steering wheel, any tips? Any ideas would also be good to here :)

Got yourself a real bargain there great color ! have you taken the dash strips off to carbon wrap them ? i did then i used a heat gun and folded the wrap around the plastic then coat of laquer job done easy to put back on too !
How did you find removing and fitting the grille ? i need to order a RS one ye owned the car a year and i still dont have one :O

Looks good and plans sound good too. Sucks getting hit by some scooter but could be a blessing in disguise as it's the perfect excuse to get a 172 rear bumper, which transform the look of the back end in my opinion. A few more suggestions too: I think the front grill could benefit from a respray. I did mine myself with satin black paint and it came out great. Colour coding always helps, as does a bit of lowering. Which alloys did you go for? I'd suggest refurbishing them in anthracite, everything looks good in anthracite.

UPDATE!

Its been too long really and I'm rediscovering modifications! I have sprayed the dash strips white as covering them in wrap was annoying me :p

IMG_20130716_191249_zps3d187da2.jpg

And I have colour coded the side strips, which I love!

IMG_20130716_191640_zpsa9de30ec.jpg

And I have put on the alloy wheels as the other wheels were doing my head it, they looked so tatty and cheap. I haven't had time to refurb them, so I will when I get the chance to get them off again. I also sprayed the diamonds a bluey grey colour which will match either grey or anthracite, the latter I'm swaying towards

IMG_20130716_191615_zps1621c87d.jpg

Is there anywhere in the south west that anyone knows of that will refurb the alloys? Failing that, where could I get some anthracite (or similar) paint from?
Here's one of the car as she stands with recent mods

Next plans are to get the rs grill sprayed satin black, as suggested ;) , sort the headlights out with the 3m kit, fog lights and give it a good service. I have the smds to do the dashboard lights white, but I'm a bit scared of doing it :S I am also looking coilovers to lower it 40mm but we'll see :p

I have just got the estimate for the insurers to repair the back (they took ages to sort it!) so that will be sorted soon, but I may look at the 172 kit too

Callum, I thought you would have been all over this already!

  Clio 1.5 dci
looks a good car mate but please colour code the bullets as well..... would look 10x better imo

Or get some air brushed ones from spray shack, but colour code the door handles as well! i have some of the air brushed ones on mine so have a look at my project thread if you dont' know the ones I mean.

Ah I forgot about colour coding the door handles! I also thought about colour coding the spoiler or spraying it white.. Maybe I'll prime it in white and see what that looks like, if it looks poor I'll continue to colour code them

As for the bullets I intend to get so Renault sport decals for them from n2grafix

IMO coilovers seems like a waste of money for the sake of 40mm as that can be achieved with springs.

I like it though, suits the 172 alloys and that colour is awesome.

Please don't spray the spoiler white, will look gash.

Good effort with the colour coding so far. As previously said - you can drop 40mm on springs alone. I'd recommend coilovers though as I've dropped 40mm springs and IMO it still looks high up!

Haha I knew there would be some hate for the spoiler idea, I'm just interested to see what it would look like :p

I would probably have to look at coilovers tbh, I have to get a ferry to get anywhere and if I lower it too much it will scrape every time I get on :(

Eh? That doesn't make sense. Coilovers lower more than springs, and springs are cheaper. Also 40mm lowering springs won't be enough for you to scrape.

Much better than that ripspeed rubbish, and my radio signal is awesome!

Finally, I bought some led strips from ebay and followed the guide on here for putting them in the footwells, they come on when the doors open and fade with the courtesy light. Personally, I think they look great and are useful as I work late nights, but they might be controversial on here.. They are white, but its hard to tell from the pictures

ive always like them because if people didn't they wouldn't put them in the new mercs, beemers and audis

might do this my self

It was easy enough using the guide on here, just need the led strips, wire, a choc block to link them all up and some solder to solder them to the interior light, took me about an hour, tops :)

Small update!

I sprayed the gear stick mid piece and the hazard surrounds but I'm not convinced myself

Best colour & head unit.

40mm is a big enough drop plus you don't have to mess about with other things its just a straight swap.

Where'd you get the 3/4 plate from pal?

www.fancyplates.com buddy, set me back £15, which isn't bad and it was badly needed!

I reckon you should get 60mm springs ;)

Don't tempt me. ;)

Cheers mate, great name too! ;) That's what I thought as well, nice and easy and makes it look so much better
