hole in exhaust... how do i fill it?

im having a new downpipe put in soon. But theres a hole where the lamda sensor usually goes. (Ive got one in a different place apparently).

Its about the size of a poundcoin.

Whats the best way to fill it? Ive been told to weld it or find a part from renault, but I dont know any part numbers or anything. And I cant weld.

Any other suggestions rather than me spending money to have someone weld it?

Bandage wont last, good for about 30 days. You need to weld it if you want the repair to last for a decent while

use chewing gum to put a poind coin in the hole.

any local garage should weld it for you for cheap id think.

any parts supplier that stock aftermarket exhausts will have a blanking bolt for it.
they come on alot of downpipes etc when you buy them for applications that dont need it, got a couple in my box.

M18x1.5 possibly 12x1.5 measure the diameter of the hole.

As they said above about the blanking plug sam. Either that or just get an old lambda off someone here or at the scrappy and put that in there to block it off.

Don't know where you could get a blanking plug tbh, don't know if a motor factors will do them but any sort of screw the right size should do the trick. Personally I would just try and get my hands on an old lambda though if you can't get get a blanking plug.

Someone on here should know where the best place to get one would be.

cut the top and bottom off a baked bean can then a strip up the side, place it over the exhaust and use jubilee clips to hold in down, works a treat on my legacy
