Hope your all up for some competition at FCS!!

When you say 3 weeks Rich... I would like to hope you have been doing other things in the middle. Eating, sleeping etc....?!

Must be looking cracking. Lusty - think you might get served mate! :)

Prep started 3 weeks ago is a truer term - Mostly real work inbetween :( though have some time off before the FCS to apply the final touches.

In reality spent a day doing the doors, wings, quarters and bonnet. Few hours on the roof and tailgate. Polished Menzerna Final Finish(s) ( Final Polish needed on the bonnet and Intensive Polish and a cutting pad on the boot! ) and Clearkote VM Glaze then Swissvax Cleaner fluided ready for wax.

All the lower parts to do still as well as the tops of the doors, mirrors etc just struggling to find the time.

Well I am pretty sure the end results will justify the means. Wish I could get a truly flawless look but alas my car sits outside and is used on a daily basis so not really practical - I have to do 8 hour stints in the cold and all my neighbours thinking I am nuts.

I swear if I hear "you can do mine next" "you missed a bit" or "is there any paint left on that?" again I might crack!!

Lol, I think that's par for the course for any of us that clean our car with 2 buckets, a woolly mit, dry with a towel and then still do more work to it! I get my sarcy comments from the parents and missus.

I'm only giving myself the Friday before FCS to get the car ready, might clean in the interior beforehand though.

I haven't really looked at the FCS show at all, pretty much the only event I regularly go to each year is Goodwood. Silly question - its not actually in France is it? :S

I'm also going to start polishing mine today. If the weather holds up.

Need to find a combo that will get rid of the swirls.

With wipe on wipe off polishes - how long do you leave it before you wipe it off? Is it literally a second after applying it?

Most you have to wait until they dry to a powder form...

What polishes are you talking about Lusty ? - most polishes need working till they are gone with little to remove.

Some waxes you can wipe on and off straight away.

Cant really be bothered mate, it was a pain in the arse the last time, no hose makes it a mare to rinse off etc, especially if its sunny...

Optimum Car Wash or QEW are your freinds. Had to do a full wash on mine at Trax due to the bloody rain last year.

We shouldn't have bothered with the BP Jet Wash, did more mess than good! :(

Oh well, ya live and learn! lol

You both had to be a bad influence didn't you lol, Norman followed suit and i'm sure one fo the Faulkners gave their 205 a jet wash too iirc?

Haha we stole that water container from one of the food stalls last year, was enough for my 106, Dogboys 206 and Jennas 205!!

If we can't do that again i know who to come to ;)

What's QEW Rich? I need a decent waterless wash for after the drive up. I know it really should be washed again, but I've got enough swirls to not worry about now!

I've used a Poorboy's waterless wash before which has been very good, but have run out now.

Quick and Easy Wash - Alex at SP did sell it none on his site now. Few caps in a bucket wash as you would normally wash mitt and two buckets but dry straight away without rinsing. That one bucket of QEW solution and the rinse bucket should do a whole car.

I used the Poorboys one which was like a QD at the FCS but it caused swirls so used the QEW at Trax and the RWS.

Lol at lusty and rich.

I can feel the sexual tension simmering in this thread :p

lol. Rich's detailing makes me moist. :coffee:

i mean it makes his car moist. lol

dan - Im having a bbq at FCS with the east and prob west mids lot. Make sure you pop over and i'll fix you some sort of protein meal

Ah right, think that'll still be too much effort! Yeah the Poorboys I had was effectively a QD, didn't seem to suffer swirls on mine. But then... that's probably the cause of them now!

  BMW E46 330i Touring
Ah, that'll do. So just a case of mixing up about a fifth of the bottle with a gallon of water in a spray bottle and then it acts as a QD/waterless wash/wipe?

I use the above as described the QEW wash a few posts up, safety of a full wash but without rinsing
