there should be a drain plug in the tank but youd need a ramp

sorry to be nosey - but whats wrong with 4-day-old petrol?

I had to remove all the petrol from my old scirocco as water had gotten into the tank via a rusty filler pipe and the carb had LIMESCALE in it! oh dear. Serious steam boat. Anyway, we pumped out the petrol using a hand pump and it took bloody hours!

Under the rear seats is a black cover, remove that and youre into the sender unit for the tank - thats where it was on my scirocco and i can only guess its there on thet clio (black cover)

Good luck and happy pumpin! you can appreciate how heavy half a tank (thats how much was in mine) of fuel is! put it this way - pretty darn hard to lift once the barrel was about 1/4 full!

u sure u didnt put diesel init lol

think id take the fuel hose off where it fits onto the fuel filter and stick a 12v supply straight onto the fuel pump to pump it out

Most new cars have anti-syphon valves now mate...

always a pain, but could just be coincidence and sending you off on a total tangent! happened to me on a few things b4!!

have you complained to the garage where you filled it up? its probably got loadsa water in it. Thats what happened to my scirocco (but as i said earlier it couldve been the big old hole in the filler pipe). Maybe there was a leak into the tanks at the garage and lots of water got in with all this recent rain?

Might be worth an enquiry?

It will take you ages with a hand pump and youl have to keep greasing it. I ended up with a really bad back and stinking of petrol for about a week! oh yeah and no-smoking! We pumped it into a plastic bin with no holes in the botem obviously. I gave the old petrol to a mate with an austin healey sprite mk.iv (as he used to put it) and he didnt care what was in the petrol! it ran fine in that....
