How do I get my '51 plate to £200 bhp?

currently got an induction kit and ordered a Blue flame exhaust with de-cat pipe + performance plugs and leads....what do i need to get it pushing out a genuine 200 bhp??

cheers
Matt

Forget the leads and plugs stock are fine.
182 exhaust manifold.
cams
manifold rework
Thats should get you very close to 200hp with a remp and a good induction kit with cold intake.

Listen to edde, he speaketh the truth!

Gas flowing, matching, panel filter, exhaust and decat, followed by a remap should see you close fella.

After that its cams, and they cost a fair bit...

Matt

You do realise the M3 and Impreza are not strictly speaking hot hatches?

Or, not hot hatches at all in fact and do cost somewhat more...?

As for your power query - I have heard some good reports about blueflame but none of them include power gains, so you can fit it - it just might not help.

Seems to be general opinion on Clios is that the engine bay gets quite warm with a 2.0 in it and so induction kits tend to suck in the warmth and make your power go down. Cut a hole in your front bumper and router some pipework to one and you might be better off, or fit a bonnet vent right over it... Cams I dont know about.

John.

for a TRUE genuine 200bhp, easy peasy, give us £1750 (approx) and we'll do it for you!

Hey Fred.

I noticed on your website a 210 BHP upgrade for £3750... Thats pricey, but for £1750 we might be on if your quoting 200bhp.

Whats included?

yeah as you may have noticed its not cheap to get power out of the clios!!

for the £1750 you get Schrick billet cams + fitting + new cambelt + remap + labour

  Focus RS, 182 gone

So the extra £2000 give the 10BHP :S

So Fred,

With my properly made induction setup, 182 mani, high flow cat and straight through exhaust, along with your £1750 setup will I see 200bhp - maybe a little more?

Thats all I want really. I think the 172 is a nice car with a good bit of power for normal road use, but I want just a touch more.

Hows the driveability on those Cams?

John.

I've got one of Yozza's modded cars including schrick cams, exhaust, manifold match and Yozza exhaust + filter etc. It's pulling a real 200bhp and I've got a rolling road read out for 212bhp from before I put one of Yozza's exhausts on. I previously owned an RB5 scooby and the clio is nearly as quick in the dry. On a recent track day at Donnington a CTR who was trying couldn't get near. How's that V6 going Fred?

It's actually a Kn N with a hillpower pipe coming from it. Nice induction noise mated with Yozza's exhaust. Car was featured couple of months back in Track and Race car, although they managed to balls the article up and get some of the details mixed up with other clios in the feature.

Yes Fred, but how quick is it and is any of the work completed so that I can scrounge a ride of Andy?

engine is completley standard, its going in for throttle bodies over the winter, the exhaust system is being made at the moment

coilovers will be on the way soon too i hope

Should be an interesting proposition with the throttle bodies. I drove Max Stringer's track prepared Mk1 V6 a number of times. Really liked it, but don't think it was much, if any quicker than my blue clio. However, the engine was pretty much standard. Most of the mods were suspension and weight reduction focused.

Thanks for the info. I will cetainly be aiming for about 190 - 200 bhp as thats what I think the Clio would reach a good mix of pace for price before getting silly!

I take it this is for a phase 2, is it any different for a phase 1 or similar.
Idential engine only difference is you have a different remap since you have a different throttle but its no more cost.
