How do i put these 182 wheels on my clio?

  Clio 1.2 16V
I jus got some 182 wheels from my friend for a lil favour i did for him a long time ago. anyway, he gave me them with some brand new tyres and everything.

My problem is how do i put them on MY clio. I've been askin around and they said i need a special key to take the front part of the alloy off so i can put them on. Anybody kno of this key?

And where i can get it, or do all garages have a special key they can fit them on with.

Excuse my knowledge, im fresh new to this.

you mean you want to take off the stud covers? you can do this by bending a 2-3 mm steel wire, some 7 mm off the end to a 90 degree angle and use it to pull out the cap, or just try to use a screwdriver, it might also work

i tryed a allen key too. star bits and everything. nuthin worx

i thought this was supposed to be a secruity thing so nobody can steal them?

Look in your spare wheel toolkit for the 3 pin key, that will remove the centre cap giving access to the wheel bolts. When fitting the 182 wheels, buy 4 alloy locking nuts, job done.

If your missing the key, ask a neighbour. Every street has a clio on it :)

TBH if you have no idea how to change a wheel i'd go to a garage.

Life is learning buddy, the more knowlede u have the better u are overall.

If you got the wheels with brand new tyres on them the likelihood is that they have already been pumped up to the correct PSI..

Dude not being funny but putting wheels on a car is very simple... If your that unsure go to a garage...

1 tip for you.. Once you have bolted the wheels on make sure you Torque them up

losen 4 wheel nuts, jack car up, undue 4 wheel nuts, put wheel on, do up wheel nuts, lower car back down, check wheel nuts are tight,

repeat for 3 other wheels

If the wheel are not on the car, you could probs flip the wheel around and push the centre caps off from behind, they just pop off.

dude where are you? i'll put them on for free for you if your near birmingham

nah im in london dude. i was gonna pay a guy in me area 20 pounds to put them on. he owns a tyre shop.

my dad said he would do it for free, but i dont kno if he go the right tools to do it. i dont wanna be drivin one day and a wheel falls off!

am i makin a big deal out of nothin?

Little screw driver into the small gap on the edge of the centre cap and it'll pop right off to expose the 4 bolts.

To be quite honest I'm stunned at this thread, if you cannot work out how to remove the centre cap, don't even tackle removing a wheel.

Pay a garage to do it.

To be honist, if your on about the center caps, they basically just twist and pop off, but it sounds like your on about locking wheel nuts?

Im Amazed at this :O

He's asking for help, not to be taken the piss out of. Think that's his point ;)

sorry well behind the whole convo, didnt refresh before typing comment, oops, but yea as everyone has said easy peasy, use coathanger or bent metal to pull cap off, loosen wheel nuts on the ground, jack up the car, remove wheel nuts, swap wheels, replace bolts, drop car down, tighten, replace caps, repeat for each side

cheers alex

Where in London are you based mate ? I live in South London but work in Central London... If you want drop me a P.M and we can arrange to meet.... I'll bung them on for you then you'll be safe... I'll do it for free so dont worry about money.. I'd rather do it for you than you doing it yourself as i wouldnt want to see you in a crash because a wheel has fallen off, The offers there so up to you ;)

Does he not mean the alloys that are already on the car? The 172 look a like ones? Just need to put something in the little metal bit on the centre cap then twist it, its just a big screw

Why does he need that???

Looking at his profile, his car is a 1.2 16v, chances being having the 15" dynamique wheels which have a center cap held in by one bolt. The bolt head has 3 notches, which is removed using the three stud key supplied with the car. Or by purchasing another one on ebay..

Or by just using a pair of needle nose pliers in two of the holes...

Is this thread for real?
