How do u wire this up

I have a 1.2 phase 3 clio, and i know for sure that when i put the RT/16V instrument panel in, the rev counter does not work, even tho there is a clip for it.

Any idea on how to wire it into the ignition module, as it have no clips runnin out of it (no spare ones anyway). Any engine boffins able to give me some help and advice on this, as to whether is worth it and how to do it ?- big job or not?

Cheers

On older cars the tacho used to current sense off the -ve terminal of the ignition coil. Not sure about the newer engines with ECUs.

ok m8, is it an easy job to wire 2 wires off the ecu or -ve terminal on the coil, sort of thing u can do at home, or is it a garage job?

Used to be a piece of p***, just a +ve and -ve feed to the dial then 1 wire from the -ve terminal of the ignition coil. Some need a resister in series on the wire from the coil. Best thing to do is look at a haynes manual wiring diagram that should tell you. You might find the wire is in the loom already!

Leave the ECU wiring well alone, fry one and it will cost ya around £600 to sort, dont mess with Renault electrics as all the late type renaults have a multiplexed network, on average you will have 3 to 10 different computers in a car and they all talk to each other, cut or short a wrong wire then you may be a bit buggered, definately a job for a dealer or an auto electrician.
