How do you insure a car if the reg hasnt been undated on the dvla database yet??

Hi guys, viewing a car tomorrow which used to have a private plate but has been changed back to the original due to selling.
The seller has all the new v5 and receipts proofing its all legit, but the the old reg still does not show up on the dvla database, how am i supposed to insure it to drive it home?

You tell the insurance company what make/model it is etc then tell them what the reg is instead of searching for it using the reg. It's what I have to do as Elephant still reckons my plate belongs to my 1.2, it's been on 2 cars since then.

Ah okay, i was thinking they had to find out what the car was from the reg before they can give you insurance.
