how fast is 1.4clio 16v

i just had quick head to head as we came out of work with a clio 1.4 16v 03 reg. we came off r/bout at around 10mph, me in front and booted it up to 60 when he turned off. i didnt seem to pull away from him at all? how quick are they or is mine slow?

Were you really really trying? You should kill it if you are, but they arent slouches.

Had to wait for one to pass pulling out of my road this evening........he had fogs on and everything and obviously saw my silver badge on the side (about the only really distinguishing feature of the 172!!) and decided to floor it. I didnt take the bait, but it certainly didnt look what Id call slow - not like a 1.2 Nova with a Peco big bore that makes a load of racket and then poodles away

Dont worry too much about it. I get it all the time with my car.....I expect to kill something and it gives me a run for my money. I just put it down to my lazy driving style - i.e. me and the rev limiter have never even met whereas the other guy is probably caning his to within an inch of its life.

could be my drivin. never take it to red line- prob around 6200 and im still wary at caning it as ive got a prob with knockin on front wheel on right handers. thats why i was so slow round the roundabout

Hmmm...if you dont redline your Valver then youll never get peak performance. Peak torque is at 4,500rpm and power at 6,750rpm.

Mine seems pretty quick - keeps up with a lot of cars you wouldnt expect it to.
