Just managed 2 find a tow eye at the scrap yard. Only 1 there despite the fact there was at least 10 clios!

Now I can get it 2 the car hospital!

Mine sounded exactly like this one does - a diesel.

One new cambelt and de-phaser later, and it sounds exatcly like a RS Clio should again, lovely :approve:

Just to add. I went to see Fred at BTM Performance between Christmas and New Year and he confirmed my dephaser is shagged... He also pointed out that the aux belt tensioner looks like it's never been changed (previous owner had the cam belt changed for £150... say no more!).

Unfortunately Fred is booked out until February so I've taken the car to Speicalised Renault Services in Nuneaton, good bunch of guys. Should have it back by tonight! Hopefully I'll notice a difference, otherwise I may as well just get a diesel!! lol

Mines sorted. Sounds loads better, and I was told timing was out so probably got a bit more poke to it now too.

Not "tested" it yet so I'll let you all know. ;-) maybe I can finally start making a progress thread now I've got a decent base car.

No renaultsport specialists in Newcastle area? Who cares? Get to your nearest one. I drove from Aberdeen to near Chester to Birchdown to make sure it got done properly. Ill probs use them for next standard service as well...its worth it!

UPDATE car now fixed, was the dephaser.

Looking at the old and new it had seemingly mis-aligned it's self

New belt kit and dephaser and shes running well again!

Work was completed by a local garage with correct tools as the two renault specialists in Newcastle i found both didn't want to know. Rang for prices for doing the job, one said because I was supplying dephaser and oil seals he wouldn't do the work?? The other told me it would cost £150 to do the full job! I asked if he was sure about that, to which he replied "il ring back within the hour to confirm price and booking in" but i never heard back from them!
