How much abuse can a 197 engine take?

Not now you've openly admitted it on a public forum!

One of the most ridiculous things I've heard on here to be fair, and that's saying something :)

Smack into the limiter every gear change if you want - you should probably let it warm up first (although even this isn't half as important as it used to be with modern oils and the like - personally still do it anyway for peace of mind) then smacking the limiter won't hurt it at all - it's there to stop you over revving the engine and hurt it, and there is no way in the world it'll void your warranty.

And the seats!

Dreamer...buy a car with more than 1598cc son ;)

My recaro's have done over 6,500 miles now and theres not a mark on them...if you weigh more than 14/15 and or have short legs forget the recaro's...
pft, 19 stone, 6ft 3 and they were still considerably more comfortable than the standard seats imo

the engine is used in the clio cup racers, say no more they. are constantly being driven hard thats all they do and engine failure on them is rare.

That's true, but those engines are rebuilt most weekends. I've always thought along the lines of: treat it like a race car, look after it like a race car.

as long as you look after it properly, there's no reason why it shouldn't handle the abuse
