How much should I be looking to pay for a new alternator?

Basically my alternator is on its way out and is overcharging the battery.

The STOP and battery lights are illuminated on the dash but it seems to run fine.

Took it to my local garage to diagnose it just in case it was something else but they quoted me £376 for a new alternator and labour.

Rung up another place and they quoted me £312, but can't get me in till 10th May.


Does anyone have any suggestions as of what to do? Obviously I'm not going to drive it in case it blows my Ecu/catches fire. But in terms of price is this about right?

Thanks for the offer but I think I'm better off getting a brand new one just in case the same problem occurs further down the line.

This will fit but the postive point is on the other side and there is no thread in the bracket so youd have to use stud bar and 2 nylon nuts if that makes sense

Cup alternators are cheap from Renault.

Depends how long it'd take to get it reconditioned really as I need the car asap.

Luckily mine is a cup as well so will lower the price a little bit.
