Hi all, had a go at claying a few weeks ago & was very impressed with the results, i've since done the family's car's & have had nothing but happy days with the stuff :approve: , i'm currently using the megs one from halfords, basically a friend saw my car & has asked me to do his bmw as he cant be arsed to spend 2-3 hours claying it + how ever long it takes to clean the car to get it preped for claying, so just wondered what u guys that dont do this sorta thing for a living would charge, he is a m8 & is fairly minted hence owning a beemer lol but dont wanna rip him off, what would u lot charge for a full out wash & clay? i'd be doing the whole car except the engine bay

If you're a real mate, you would do it for free and take satisfaction from not only doing the job well, but teaching someone an essential car detailing skill.

I don't really like doing mates cars as I often just buckle when they say "how much" and say "oh just get me a pint" - so often end up knackered and worse off!

Claying isn't really that difficult and should not take anything like 3 hours to complete even on a large vehicle.

I would just ask for a beer or a spin in his car...

^ very true ^ "if" it was a gd m8;) , but since he has no intrest in learning as he said he could drop it round myne & leave me to it, plus i know him threw a friend of a friend so dont fancy spending my 1 day off a week for nothing

Nothing! Just call him a lazy b*****d! And get him to do it himself! Clayin doesn't yield much of a benefit from more than 5ft away imo! Sure close up and to feel it's like nite and day! But it's only one step in a long process imo.

  A slow one :-(
i just charge cost of products and then if I get a tip its a bonus! I enjoy detailing so get a sense of satisfaction...

  Non RS : (
I just try to cover cost (Shampoo, Polish's and wax etx clay )

then they often give me extra for a good job.

As its freinds i would never say a hourly rate lol

make sure you cover your costs, once you have used the clay on the beemer your gonna have to buy some more as you cant use it again, so unless you charge him something for it you may aswell just give him some money

I've only done 3 paid details since i've been home. Charged 60 for 1, and 90 for the other 2!

10hrs work and all my products...Thats a fair price imo.
