How much to make a rep?

Car  Clio 1.2 8v (2002)
I'd love to get a proper 172 but the running costs are too much for me. Just wondered how much it would cost as I'm looking at either a 1.2,1.4 or the dci80.

All thoughts and opinions are welcome and anyone whose thinking about selling their rep please let me know.

Thanks

I'd try and find one to buy if you can mate. You'll spend a grand easy trying to make a rep.

We did in on my brothers old 1.2, Id look for a predone one TBH.

There are plenty on here, Finding all the parts second hand in the right colour is difficult. Buying them new is expensive, and respraying is also costly.

Am i right in saying that the only colours that are the same between the 172 and a non sport is the pearl black?

If you bought a black non sport and managed to get all the parts from a black 172, you would save alot of money

I remember opening this thread about two years ago.
Most people told me not to bother and just to wait.

I being young chose not to listen, and started buying parts... then i realised i had made a mistake and sold the parts

(luckily i got my money back)

seriously dude... get the real thing and when you do you will look back and think

"god as if i was gonna fake one"

how ever, your money your life your choice!
:)

Running costs aren't too bad on a 172. I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of the parts and insuring mods meant its not much cheaper.

Only killer with 172's is the insurance. Petrol isn't even that bad.

It is possible to get the bumpers skirts and arches for under £500 but you will be in for a long long long wait, collecting bits over the next few years.

In reality I would say 1000-1500.

plus the cost of alloys, spacers, coilovers/springs, splitters, spoilers, lights, interiors, exhaust (182}.....

Might be fun, sourcing all the parts for as low a price as possible.

But in the end is it worth?
(see .J.A.M.E.S. and or atouba's reply)

2002 Clio... is yours a Phase 1 or Phase2?

Agree,

mines nearly a full rep 172 and its cost circa £3500+ easy, + i havnt finished, other people have done it like Cro^ so its in the ££££

As much as I sympathise with avoiding high insurance and running costs (I'm only 21). I drive a 182 and 95% of my mates think its a 1.2 16v and don't give it a second look or give a s**t about it.

Noone will notice the mods except other RS owners.....and as soon as you floor it they'll notice its a rep........

Get the real thing.
