how much without MOT?

  clio 192
Hi guys sorry if this is in the wrong section i did look but don't think it belongs in the selling thread. Basically i'm selling my ph1 172, i am going travelling soon and need the cash. The mot runs out today and i'm looking to see what people think i would be able to get for it without it. 53000 miles, drilled grooved brakes (by previous owner) standard exhaust, cambelt and water pump changed 1 year ago. Serviced by rentech a couple of weeks back they say the alternator will need replacing as does a ball joint, tires are all legal but 3 may need replacing before next service. I went to a dealer who offered me £1500???

any help as always is appreciated

How do they know all these items need replacing-

Personally I would say you are putting a lot of people off having no mot-
I would get it MOT for £50 & get a quote for repairs...- that way a potential buyer would have an accuarte estimate of repairs-

Just got back from the test centre, it has failed on just the emissions, all the emissions' tests though. I know this is going to be a vague question but can anyone give me an idea what this is going to cost me to fix? as in worse case scenario? trying to make the decision whether to sell without the MOT or get it fixed before selling.

did they tell you if they suspected anything? cat or lambda sensors?

it'll be so much easier to sell with a MoT

If I was in your position, snap the dealers hand off.

Its a no brainer. £1500 and get shot of it.

You say it needs a new MOT, 3 tyres, Alternator and a ball joint. That there is £500 worth of work.

If you fix it all up and get it ready its worth what, £2500? Then you'll get idiots knocking at your door wanting to haggle and test drive....

I would without doubt take £1500 for it.
