How quick is the 1.8 16v

0-60 is often quoted as either 8.6 or 7.6... Which is to be believed...



Anyone know the 0-100 or Qrtr?

mine is! 7.1seconds to 60. can achieve 62mph in 2nd.

62 mph in Second! Thats good... I have only just started to look for a valver so I dont know much about them! Presumably 62mph in second is not normal!

not sure to be honest if thats normal, i have taken the reading from the speedo so there maybe some accuracy issues there as most speedos can be slightly out.

But thats what it says when im coming out of 2nd into 3rd. works well at a nice warm temp.

15.9seconds 1/4mile and mailto:et@88mph">et@88mph. most valvers are around this i presume.

So they can do 60 in 2nd! Like the VTRs... Citroen changed the gearboxes to allow 60 in 2nd... Makes the 0-60 time better obviously!

Thanks matey good to be back after selling the 172. I bought a motorbike after a sold the car but I also need something with 4 wheels to keep me warm in winter. After the house is decorated next year I am investing in the turbo conversion for a bit of VA VA VOOM...

Yes I have found a nice L reg Phase 1, 78k on the clock (cambelt done at 62k, Not to bothered about the mileage) in white. All standard apart from being lowered slightly A1 condition apart from a pin prick of rust on the wheel arch, not dents and immaculate interior and guess what no fooking rattles which has got to be a first for a renault for £2k. This has more bills and reciepts than a thing with lots of bills and reciepts.

Yerr Turbo next yerr, but I am waiting on Nick to see if his is reliable..

The state of tune of a 16v isnt an important factor like it is with, say, a GT Turbo. Mods below cams/head work make very little difference to the 16v/Willy, making them more driveable rather than giving massive power hikes.

You obviously got the 0-60 of 8.6 from Max Poo. Did you also notice that they give the 19 16v a 0-60 in the low 7s? For a car with the same engine and 100kg+ more weight? Theyre a bunch of apes.

Ill let the various scalps the Valver chalks up speak for itself, but something like a Nova GTE just isnt even near the 16v ballpark in terms of straight-line performance or handling. Try finding a faster hot hatch made in the early 1990s (Delta Integrale/Escort Cossie excluded!).

Well on the + Side it was an old Max Power... I have had to stop reading it... I dont own a japanese car or a saxo with a japanese cars bumper so it gets boring!
