HOW rubbish are UK-Car-Discount

  RenaultSport clio 182
So.... ordered a full fat 182 from UK-Car-Discount on the 2nd November and was told at the time it would take a max. 2 weeks for delivery as the car is already in stock. Having then spent those 2 weeks trying to get information out of them on a possible delivery date, finally got told that the car is already in the UK, and is down on the system as being delivered to the Renault dealer on the 23rd (yesterday!). Phoned on the 21st to check that everything still on schedule only to be told that Renault systems are down. Likewise for the 22nd. And then on the day of Delivery... hurrah! the systems are back up and running.... but the car isn't in the UK at all, it's still in Calais and has been delayed due to "bad weather" (it's not even snowing yet!), and that it's going to be shipped to Southampton to a depot, and then from there it will be allocated to a Renault Dealer were it will be taken for PDI prep.
So now have a stinky delivery date for the 7th at the earliest!(

Rant over )

Get the spec confirmed from Motorpoint over the phone. They import (to UK specs for insurance purposes) but suspect that it wouldn't come with a Cat 1 alarm, for example. Got the wife's Mondeo from Motorpoint and had no problems overall, just a slightly different specification. Got my full fat 182 + cup packs from UK car discount 3 weeks ago. Ordered in July with an initial delivery date mid-september which was delayed. Annoying but have had no problems with them since that date (just the luggage net missing which hopefully they'll get hold of). I didn't mind waiting but might be more useful to use quotes from such firms as a bargaining tool for dealers.

Yeah... they dont come with alarms or locking wheel nuts. So now i have cobra cat 1 alarm and level refernce monitor just in case.

Motorpoint are fine, however, in the current 182 climate they can be closely matched with a UK car. That 11599 will + Reg Fee+ RFL + Valet fee.

I managed to get for a new 182 with cup packs, recaros & Cd changer all in for 12.5k! A uk car will be easier to sell or Px in the future.

Yeah.... as a whole i was pleased with their service. Thought it would be cr*p as they are quite a cost saving org. yeah... good service from MP. Impressed!!!

Just have to see if they can continue to beat or match the other supermarkets in terms of price...

P.s. where did you get your car from.... mine was 11,600 from MP (But without the Rec's, CD ch, and cup pack tho)

That was renault liverpool. Someone on the forum got it. I didnt go for it because I didnt want black as had a black 172. Was a serious bargin considering its a reanult dealer.

  Silver 182 F/F
I bought mine from U-C-D and had no problems what so ever, also when i got my first one nicked they rang me to say they would order me another straight away without a deposit and if my old one was recovered they would just cancel the order, can't ask for better than that.

Its ok about the going rate, Its just with recaros which was £550 option on the 182 and the Changer the renault liverpool was a cut above. It is not difficult to find one with a 1-5k miles for around 11 on a renault forecourt. I always stay uk as its easier to sell the car in the future.

Hi I bought my 182 from WWW.uk-car-discount.co.uk as well. They were great with me had no problems at all. I shopped extensively on the internet quotes from everyone I could find offering the 182 also read lots of the postings on the Clio forum.
Motorpoint vehicles were imports though I wanted a Uk car with no hassle. The major factor with UK car discount was that they not only the cheapest for a uk dealer supplied vehicle but I was the 1st registered keeper on the log book. A lot of the other companies on the net could supply the 182 but they were pre registered so I would be the 2nd owner on the log book. Most did not even disclose this but after asking them they did admit this. Secondly a lot of the other internet companies said I would not get the V5 for 6 months this caused insurance implications apparently because I would not be the registered keeper for 6 months.

I saved over £3400 on the purchase and I am the 1st registered keeper, the V5 arrived a couple of days after the car was delivered in my name. The vehicle was delivered by a Renault main dealer to my home address free of charge as well. I paid for the car the following day by bank draft into the Nat West so I can only speak very highly of UK Car Discount they did exactly what they said they would do. If I was to critisize anything at all the vehicle was 4 days late but the saving £3400 outweighs any moan I may have over that. So my experience was all good with UK Car Discount. I recomended a guy at work who bought one as well who had no problems at all, even got a cheque for £50 for recommending him to them. Can't be bad at all.

I think we established in the old thread that you work for them, even though you say you don't, and if you are reading this can you please phone me to arrange the warranty work you promised to arrange for me?

PS I was told 3-6 months for my V5, why?!?!?

Yup that's true. I don't understand the whole 3-6 months business? I don't see what difference buying in fleet makes?

Even though UK-Car-Discount were rubbish were generally rubbish (especially when it came to communication and delivery times) i have to admit the £££ saving was probably worth the wait! :sleepy:

  182... again!
Sounds like they say any shite to get customers signed up! Paid 12250 from dealer in april (met paint/no cup packs), arrived in 5 weeks, said 6-8 originally and obviously full uk spec and first reg owner!!
Hope you get your car soon...sure you'll enjoy it!

my mum had ordered her 1.2 16v extreme 4 from local renault dealer but had to wait about a month and a half because it was a new special edition blue colour or some crap like that, so they phoned us to tell us it was coming in that week, we went to pick it up and there was a nice new silver extreme sitting waiting for us they sent the wrong colour! lucky there was one sitting in glasgow pre registered with 20 miles on the clock though so they got that for us the following day!

Hey its Mr Negative jeccross, I can recommend some good self help books you can read to try and bring you out of this negative downward spiral you are in. Its not good for your health

I will copy and forward this thread onto www.uk-car-discount.co.uk for you so they can sort your problems and perhaps they will reply to you directly through the forum. It will give them a chance to answer you because there are always 2 sides to a story. I am sure they will know exactly who you are if what you are saying is TRUE. I got my V5 within 21 days so maybe its all about attitude??????

Well if this is true it pretty much sums up their/your attitude for me, I believe a good customer service department should be breaking it's back to make customer's feel valued, I was argued with whenever I said I wasn't happy my car had been delayed by over a month and I got the impression that I should feel eternally grateful and put up with the problems because I got the car for a good price (not much cheaper than anywhere else by the way). Now I have the car I haven't been contacted to arrange my warranty work for problems when the car was delivered and was never in fact contacted at all during the sale even when they knew my car was going to be delivered without a tax disc I had to wait for the delivery man to tell me when it arrived.

How very professional. I wish I could prove this came from someone who works for UK Car Dsicount, any ideas how anyone?

Maybe you should post in some other threads and tell us all about your car Tanks, or maybe join the club? Or are the profit margins too low over there (as I was told) to stump up a fiver?
