How to contact eBay seller

  Breaking A 172 Replica
Hello guys,

I have just sold an item on eBay. However the winning bidder I sense is f**king me about a bit (although I do not want to throw away the sale just like that). So I tried to contact the 2nd highest bidder and they replied saying they were interested. I have now gone to reply and eBay are blocking it saying I am not in an open transaction with them so they will not allow communication unless through email.

How do I get their email address?

btw I have tried sending a message through one of their for sale items but they have nothing for sale at this time!

Thanks for your help

Sam

No mate, What I was thinking was log in using your other account and message him with that and get him to email you.

eBay doesnt let you keep messaging people, as it stops people setting up sales without auctions.

Ok.

Only thing is I am not sure if he will be scared of by such suspicious behaviour!

If I sent out an offical second chance offer, can someone just confirm the winning bidder would be made aware of this?

Thanks

Sam

No Rollo it isn't.

Why do you ask that :S

Just tried to contact him on my other account and it won't work either. It is blocking that too!

Grrr....

How can I find out his email address from eBay?

Thanks

Sam

Sam,
you are not being singled out. Ebay changed the system to stop people contacting each other to do deals without paying fees.

The way round it is to click on your second bidders name, look and see if he is selling anything and go to the "ask seller a question" box then message him referring back to your item he bid on.

The other way to do it is by rejecting the highest bidders bid and then 2nd chancing the next bidder.

Does that make sense ?

I tried the first of the 2 methods however at present he is not selling anything.

If I reject the highest bidders bid will they find out about this?

Thanks

If you meant the present "buyer", yes he will get an email saying that you have rejected his bid.
Is that not what you want to do ?

I'd reject the winner of the auction tbh, as they sound like a time waster - ebay will then let you make a second chance offer to the person who was second, they will then be given the chance to buy it at the price they bid at.
I've had a few 'second chance' offers from sellers before, when i've checked to see if the items back on the listings (so everyone can see it) it isn't - so it means that only they can see the auction.
If they want to buy it, they buy it.

Well thats how it used to be - unless ebay have changed it.

I do not want to let the winning bidder know however as if the second bidder decides to not go through with the sale I will be left with no one. It was an expenisve listing (£19+ as it was heavily advertised) and do not want to pay that again.

Can anyone think of any other way at all I can get hold of the second highest bidder. It just seems weird that I could speak to him to start with and he replied but now I cannot communicate at all.

Does anyone know how to find out his email address?

Thanks

Sam

Sam, Why not just do it as a second chance offer, as if you had 2 of the item. If he takes it up then you can ditch the person thats messing about, as a non paying bidder and get your FVF back.

Do you have any of the emails/replies from the winning bidder still in your email folders on your PC/ISP?

  Breaking A 172 Replica
I have the email address for the winning bidder but not for the second highest bidder.

I do not want to ditch the first one as I don't know they are messing about its just they are saying they want me to meet them half way (which they didn't say before the auction end) and you know when you just get that feeling they are not entirely genuine.

Also even if I send out a second chance offer I still have to pay the FVF don't I?

Cheers for you help guys, anymore suggestions?

If you have a reply for the 2nd bidder as you state in the first post, then providing it's through the ebay system their email address is usually included in it somewhere. Usually in small text towards the bottom or for example;

From: "eBay Member: daz_2427" <member@ebay.co.uk>
>Reply-To: cliodaz@aol.com
>To: leinad_elgan@hotmail.com

Yesssss!

The guy just happened to ask for some pics despite me not being able to reply. He has supplied his email address for me to send the pics to!

Cheers for your help guys

Sam :)

Argh right I see what you were saying Daz.

I think they must have hidden their email address because it didn't give that at the top

Cheers anyway

Do you have the 'official' email through ebay from them Sam? If you do, scroll down past the respond options etc and where the text goes smaller and grey in colour their email address will be down there in blue text.

*edit* Just read your other reply, job sorted :)

  Breaking A 172 Replica
Yeah Job sorted so I am pleased now.

I think you have the option to hide your email address from other eBay members so I guess they have done this.

Thanks

Sam
