How to get my alarm to work?

The previous owner must have disabled the alarm or something because it doesn't work. How do I enable it?

Locked car jumped around loads in it, opened bonnet and stuff

Tbh count it as a blessing. It's only something to go wrong and wake you up at 3am every day for a month.

Could be a fuse or it could be removed completely. It's not going to stop someone breaking in to it if they want something.

Lock yourself in and open the door. That sets it off.

You have to ask why it's been disabled. Must be something that made the owner need to turn it off.

Try and put the key in the ignition and turn it 2 clicks quickly on and off twice.
