How to log an engine swap with DVLA?

Right guys, not sure if this is in the right section, but i need to get this sorted for new year. As some may know i now have an F4RT lump in the car.

I want to be legal of course, how do i go about telling the DVLA? and do i need an engineer report on the car?

Im guessing i have to do this before i re-insure it.

I may be wrong.... (could have been an internet rumour)

But to register an engine swap with the DVLA, you need to provide evidence that the conversion was carried out by a fully qualified garage.

Done it with my mates car and they wouldn't do it without a receipt from a VAT registered garage. He tried quite a few times and gave up in the end.

It was insured with the conversion though and the Police never bothered when they checked it over.

right, this could be a problem, as i did the conversion myself in my own time away from work, but i am a fully qualified mechanic.

Adam, they allowed him to insure the engine coversion without it being logged on DVLA?

Just write a receipt out from your work with all the work done by you at 0£ labour and parts supplied by customer?

He insured it as a 1.4 with 'engine not standard'.

They weren't interested in what he had put in :S .

Probably weren't that bothered until he ever tried to make a claim.
