How to tune a 197

  197 Cup (JAWS)
Hi Guys,

I've had my 197 for a while now, well around 4 months and I feel the car needs more power. I know that a remap may do very little performance wise. But what other ways can I get more power out of the engine. I'm looking to spend quite a bit of cash, is there anyone out there that tune the engines to make them provide more mid range power? I have ran the car on V Power since the purchase but still feel it needs more power

Can anyone refer me anywhere please

Not that i know much but from reading on here you wont get much out of that engine using normal mods ( exhaust, decat, remap, IK etc).

given, it will help alot but nothing too drastic. if you want to go fast fast you will be looking at throttle bodies (not sure if they have been developed for the 197 yet) or a turbo conversion (same as back their <<).

on a side note, what colour is your car. i have spotted about 3 round sheffield, they seem to be quiet rare, none of them have CS sticker in rear though :(

Remap, maxogen, decat, YozzaSport cat back exhaust should see you at around 210/215bhp maybe more with a good bit extra mid range torque i'd think..

My standard R27 made 198.8bhp on the rollers earlier this year with only an itg panel filter with 5,500 miles on the clock..

Oh and Boosh..CS stickers doesn't mean they are or aren't members...i dont have one on mine but still get spotted..

you could look into getting inlets done , cams ? email angelworks . iv spoke to him and he can do some serious engine work

we are looking at port matching the inlets on a 197, however at this stage without testing i cannot be sure how effective it would be..

they are considerably larger in cross sectional than the 182 and are all oddly enough a slightly different shape..

(we aquired a 197 engine to pull apart to see what was what)

if anyone is interested we would do the 1st one FOC to assertain if it makes a difference, with before and after RR results.
