How to turn off 182 alarm?

Pretty much as above really???

What I want to do is turn off my alarm so when the car is parked on my drive I can lock it, but leave the windows open? When I do this now it sets the alarm off.

Ignition off. Turn on then off then on then off. When you lock the car it should bleep three times.

Do you have to actually start the car or just turn the ignition so the dash lights up?
