how vital is the heat shield on a valver

im missing the heat shield between the engine( manifold area )and the dash ( back of the engine bay ) is it important to get some insulation in there ? ive heard of ppls car parts getting too hot, melting, etc, etc. or is this just old wifes tailes ?

It protects the brake pipes, clutch cable, acc cable and a few other gubins from the heat of the manifold- if it didnt need it renault wouldnt have put one there

this is true it just didnt have one when i got it i shall have to make sumthing up sorry for asking silly things

if u don't your clutch cable will melt and the pedel won't work, cos the plastic will all get stuck on the wire and it will become oto stiff

acc cable melts first with the heat shield removed.

£50 from renault for replacement !
