How would you undo these?

Impact wrench just spins the strut shaft and spring top mount.

impact/air gun will do them no bother

Tried it fred. Its just spins the spring top mount round and round and round.

I don't really want to be pulling an apex spring out of my leg lol

Get a vice or clamp on the strut to stop it turning, or cut a slit into the strut tops and put something in to stop then turning while using the spanner

Got a little one.

A 300nm one and a 1800lb/ft one. I didn't want to use the big ones. I'll have a crack with the 300nm one.

drill some small holes down one side of the nut the sharp chisel to finish splitting the nut ;-)


PS how will a air gun get it off if the hole lot is spinning and you cant grip the shaft anywhere ????

pour buckets loads of ease-it on, its a releasing oil, normally helps us in work if something won't budge

Grind some cuts into it them smash em off with a hammer. You'll need new damppers though, lol.

If you place a hand grenade on top of the nut pull the pin and shut the bonnet, you know when to open the bonnet again as you will hear a slight tap on the bonnet this means the grenade as detonated, open bonnet and ta da the nut is off easy when you have the know how and correct tools

I got them off with a 1800lb/ft air gun.

Took about 1 millionth of a second. I was very scared though.
