HU Power Problem

  Ph-Sold!

Recently my girlfriend had her battery replaced in her Clio, once shed done this the OEM tape unit asked her for a code, when entering the code the display changed to _ _ _ _ and wouldnt turn on again.

I have replaced it with a pionner CD player (which I know works) and that wont power on either!

Is there a reset switch or something else that could be causing this, just doesnt seem like any power is going to the units, have checked all the wiring and it seems fine.

best to get yourself a 12v elec tester, mulitmeter or summit check the earth and both positive feeds of the standard wiring loom.

check the fuse?

Fuse?

I find my Pioneer blows them if you unplug/plug in odd times.. so I take the fuse out before I remove it now!

Ive checked over all the fuses and there doesnt seem to be anything wrong, although there is no fuse in the box for the HU? What one should I put in to use the Pioneer one?

The fuse on the back of the OEM unit seems ok but it still doesnt work.

get yourself an electrical tester, doesnt have to be an expensive multimeter a cheap tester will do. then check the power cables, you should have a combination of two or three of the following colours red /orange/yellow check that you have one giving a feed all the time (this is the permanent live) the check that you have another giving a feed when you switch the ignition (this is the switch live) if you have both of those you know you are getting power to the unit and that its not a fuse or wiring fault on the car and the issue lies with the head unit
