Hurry Up & Fix my 172 Mr Renault!!

Ive got a 1.2 Corsa SXi for a week whilst my Clio172 is in the garage having its alternator replaced.

I know going from a 2.0 Clio to a 1.2 Corsa is gonna be slower, but this thing is like a slug. I raced a milk float and the milkfloat won!!

As for Ragging Hire Cars... jeeeez at least when you rag most of em they go, but this thing?!?

The interior is almost as bad as the new vectra I was collected in. Very bland, swathes of plastic, almost "anonymous" there seems to be very little character in the car.

Im in the same position mine in having the clutch replaced and the garage have just called and said it wont be ready until after the weekend.

The only saving grace is that Ive got a 1.6 Megane - but I still want mine back

Mine was a 5k 5door one.

I suppose as far as sh*te hire cars go its not that bad!! Put it this way, makes you 172 feel EVEN quicker when you get it back.

Gah,

Car was supposed to be fixed tonite but its not!! Apparently an RTE was sick.

So Ive still got the Corsa, and looks like it might still be with them until after Easter!!! aaarrrrgggghhhhhh.

AND I will have to extend the insurance cover (at a cost to me)

They have got to be taking the pi$$!! Is this typical of Renault?

Lets just say I am NOT impressed.

I drove by the dealer last nite, the car is sat outside. Battery so flat that the alarm/immobiliser LEDs dont light up. So therefore if someone broke into it, the alarm woulnt go off as there is ZERO power in the car.

The hire car insurance runs out at 1pm today, and will cost ME another 15quid to extend and the dealer will not refund it. I find this outrageous as I have already paid 15 pound for the last weeks insurance. This is becuase the dealer only pays Enterprise for a "basic rental" without insurance so I have to insure the corsa under my policy.

Dude this was me exactly last week.

Create merry hell, Ring renault UK and the dealer and try and get them to talk to each other.

Hope you sort it out. Who are you dealing with at Maidenhead?

Just spoken to the dealer, they have finally taken the car into the workshop and stripped it down.

Found the following wrong:-
Alternator Pulley has chunk missing
Alternator Belt worn (coz of ^)
Alternator Overheated and melting
CV Joint is dodgy

So they have ordered the parts, but obviously it aint gonna be this side of Easter.

So Ive now got to extend the car hire for another week and pay another £15 to insure it (out my own pocket coz the dealer wont pay)

Heres hoping I get a nice call from the dealer today, I went mad over the weekend trying to get anywhere in the Corsa

Im guessing that even if the parts arrive today, they wont have it all fixed and put together within a day?

Wouldnt be suprised. It seems if they put their minds to it they can actually work pretty qickly.

Well I got the car back................

......with a nice chip in the paint about 1-1 1/2 inch back from the passenger door handle on the rear 1/4 panel.

They tried to use the line "it must have already been there", trust me you dont need to have 20/20 vision to see it!!

So after much toing/froing Renault have agreed to pay for "dentmaster" or the like to come and fix it.

It did have 368pounds worth of parts plus 150/labour Im guessing?
Alternator
Drive Shaft
Brake Pipe
Alternator Pulleys
Tensioner Kit
Assorted clips/bolts/nuts etc

Arrrghhh why is it never easy with Renault.

Ive now got to get a reciept/invoice from my insurance company for the 2 payments I made to cover the hire car (Total 30quid) before they will pay up for that as well.
