Try giving it a good turn to undo it. If that don't work try tightening it up a bit, then un doing it. If all else fails, hacksaw it off.

In just PC'd my mates silver 172, same colour as yours, check the media bit in about 20 mins to see the results, might change your mind!!

Undo screws all the way, spray wd40 and try turning it with a bit of brute force. If that doesnt work get some mole grips, previous owner has probably glued it in.

Some of these have a lefthand thread as an anti theft device.
The more they try to undo it, the tighter it gets.
Try turning it clockwise with some force to remove it.....but not too much.
