WRX STi (2010 4dr)
So, a while back I made a new friend. The girl who sat opposite me at work turned up one day with a set of Manitou Black mountain bike forks. I was surprised. I race MTB, and had never heard her mention anything interesting on the subject. Turned out they were her hubby's mates. Hubby (Stephen) was also a very keen mtb-er AND, cutting a long story short, has a 182 FF. 2 years down the line and I finally have the means to get a track car. Having driven the 182 quite a bit, I know what I want to build/buy.
Now, I'm not in a hurry. I've just sold my M3 (E46 for those who know about these things) and bought a new Subaru WRX STi, which I wish I could still call an Impreza, but apparently its no longer the done thing. Although the M3 was chipped, Eibached, poly-bushed etc. I never tracked it, as it was my only car. The STi falls in the same camp (although it feels like it could comfortably take the abuse). I've always had fun stuff (imported Impreza, MX-5 etc).
So, I have some funds, and I have some time, and some skill with a wrench. Having just finished re-building the gfs crashed fiesta, I'm looking to get stuck into some track driving and car tinkering.
I'm looking for something I can drive to and from the track, as I don't want to go down the towing route. The main reason for joining the club is to check out the other builds, work out what works, see if I need to gather additional funds, and to get some help.
First pass and it looks like a pre-modded 172 is probably a safe bet. However, I have a hankering to do the project work myself, and keep things low-key. Low-miles 182s on auto trader are well within reach, and I can then do the build myself.
Anyway, I'l keep you updated with progress. Happy to be part of the club.

PS no one tell my girlfriend as she'll not sign this little project off without massive groundwork!
