i have a word document i need to turn into a pdf

Why not just save it as a PDF in Word itself?!? Seems the logical option.

I use Cute PDF. It's free and works well.

Cute PDF is quite good. I used to use one called PDF995, which was brilliant but it's not 100% free anymore - it pops up adverts unless you pay a couple of dollars to register it.

Agree with this man...just install it and the associated converter (which comes as the download) and then print to file (it will install CutePdf Writer as a printer)...two minute job.

Word saves as pdf anyway.

not all versions and sometimes people need to save to pdf from other applications too

Sometimes they do. However "I have a word document I need to turn into a pdf" suggests he's using Word.

Don't know if this works on Windows, but to do it on a Mac go to File -> Print -> PDF -> Save As PDF

install open office you can convert to pdf in that, just open the doc in it and click the export to pdf option
