I just crapped myself - Car snaking

Hi,

Was bored so thought i would go for a little drive, got on the motorway building up to 80 not gunning it very hard and all of a sudden the car starts snaking from side to quite badly I nearly ended up in the central!

Can anyone think of anything to check, I slowed down and turned around to head for home and everything seems alright.

i had the same situation in a new golf cabriolet a few years back, i'd owned the car for a year, and it only ever did it once. But never found out what it was, so i just put in down to a bit of diesel in the road or something.

all tyres are 6 months old with good depth, maybe just something on the road then, very scary

are you sure you didn't turn/brake all of sudden and it was caused by weight transfer.

i did a trackday yesterday and it was doing it all the time under braking.

It's only ever happened to me once and that was under heavy braking as a c**k in a CTR cut in front of me at, lets say 70mph lol, and immediately applied the anchors!!!

what were you doing at the time? just accelerating steadily in a straight line?

would immediately have thought 'puncture' but if your tyres are OK it obv can't be that

can't see diesel (etc) causing it either in those circumstances. weird one
