I reckon head gasket is going. help?

Whilst checking my oil the other day, i noticed a build up of crap around the rim of the oil pipe jobbo.
I was told it could be a sign of my head gasket going, but i've not had any problem with my car, starts every time and runs perfectly.

Put the picture large, so you can actually see the crap.

Just wondered if anyone knew what it was, whether it was just condensated oil, or a buggered head gasket.

Do you do short trips in the car mate? As condensation does happen here if the car is used for short trips.

Have you used any water?

If you've got a 1.2 16v, they all do that, its because the filler neck is so long.

Nowt to worry about.

Yer, i do do a fair few short trips, so it could be that.
I'll just keep an eye on it for the next week or so i suppose.

I thought it could be cause it was due an oil change?
IIRC, 1.2 16Vs are meant to have a paper filter, with plastic housing?
The bloke who had the car before me butchered a screw on one on, and it seems to be leaking.
So i'm unsure as to get a brand new plastic one with paper element, or a screw on one?

Check for smells in ur header tank, check ur dipstick for cream on it, c if u can smell petrol in engine wen u take the oil cap off,N keep checking ur oil levels, also watch for smoke out ur exhaust, blue for oil( don't confuse it for normal emissions) or White smoke for water. All these are the signs for head gasket failure

if you didn't have mayo in a 1.2 I'd be worried as someone has stolen your renault engine and replaced it with something else

Had a look today, and its abit of a creamy colour.
No crap on the dipstick or anything like that.
No smoke coming out the exhaust.
No smells of petrol or other crap.
Just abit concerned.

Still normal?

The only way you'll get rid of it, is to ***** it down a Mway for an hour or so, even then it'll come back.

As said, it's massively common on that engine, and not a problem in the slightest.
