I think I fucked the coilover fitting FRED I NEED YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  R35 GTR
I took old shock off and its fooked. Unscrewed the top rubber cap and but that on top of my coilovers, then bolted that to the other cap, but not sure if its fitted right.

FRED I NEED YOU!!!!!

I have one corner sort of fitted, and cant get my standard shock back together, so car cant be moved.:(

Can anyone help me tomorrow please? I will pay obviously.

Re: I think I f**ked the coilover fitting FRED I NEED YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have pics of how i fitted the coilover. Took the old rubber bit off the old one, left out the metal insert and bolt. Plonked that on top.

So its basically one bolt holding the whole thing together from the strut top in the engine bay. I may not have fucked it, but I have no idea if its done correctly.

Old shock has rubber split and is covered in black grease and oil, i thought it was fooked though.

Are you saying you missed out part 3 on the drawing in the thread.
the easy way to know if you've done it right is does the big rubber bung bit
(the second bit down in this drawing)

can spin round on the part 3 of the drawing on that thread and there a bolt at the top holding it all together then you've done it right.
I dunno, i'll check to see if there is a diagram for my shocks on dialogys.

edit:cant find diagram on there.

I have definitely missed something, so i quit while i was ahead .lol.I only fitted the rubber bit under the body work and rubber bit on top, with the nut in.

So I need the bearing of the old strut, the round bush and the rubber? Then hold that on with the two nuts?(one from the coilovers and one from the standard shock.

I knew I shoulda just paid someone to do it, shouldnt be such a cheapskate.

I'll give you a call in the morning mate, I thought it was too late earlier, so just went to pub instead.

Probably best if you fit them, but I am a stubborn git.lol.

Yep you need the old spinny bearing (part 3 on that Renault drawing on the linked post earlier in the thread.
Then put the bung on (the one you have in your hand) then put the small metal bit which sits inside the bung on then put the nut on top.

ah cool, it all makes sense now! I put the metal bit in the bung, but because the bearing wasnt there it was sitting proud of the hole. I'm excited now! Will get the fronts sorted , got tomorrow to mess with the rears.:clown:
