Ahh well.. Fair doos.

Still it should be a colour that stands out from the rest.,

I do like yours Jonff, just the way it sits is great.

BUT, if I was sat there at a CS meet I'd feel kinda, abit plain and stuff. If I was driving one round I'd probably be going crazy because I'm driving an RS lol, but if my 1.2 was mondial I wouldn't feel quite so in your facish, more average blue. I seen one yesterday and caught my eye straight away, stuck out like a very beautiful sore thumb inbetween all the other lesser looking but better build cars

I'd have a Mondial, but would be afew different touches on it. Plus it's dark enought to warrant gloss black IMO, unlike the naughty, so would jizz that all over it.

Want a rare RS Brett, find me a V6 in Lunar grey :) Never seen a V6 in the flesh :(

Lol. I was only jesting Alex but yeah I do see where you're coming from though. Everyone has different tastes and opinions. I prefer a car that blends in to be honest.

They never made a perfect Renault sport 172/182 imo. The cup was the perfect platform but then they made a hash of it.

Cup - best colour, best wheels, light.
172 - black xenons & Black seat belts and decent rear seats
182 - best engine (arguable)
Trophy - Best front seats, spoiler & Suspension.

Put that together and you'd have the best of the lot.

  S3, Polo
All this balls about how it could have been better with:
- Unique paint (LOL)
- Better Back seats (LOL)
- Black seat belts (ROFL)
- Better suspension
- Xenons
- Different spoiler
- etc.

With all of the above, except the suspension comment, it wouldn't have been 'dynamically' better. It was £12k FFS = RS Win.

Mondial blue is nice.. But common..

IMO it's Such a shame the 172cup didn't come in it's own, a one off colour like the trophy did.

PSJ.

What, Capsicum red, which is a boggo 1.2 Clio colour? eerrrrr!!!! no thanks.

When clean in the sun, Mondial + silver Turinis makes it the best looking MK2 for me, by a long way. Iceburg Cups...... meh look like a normal 172 really. Now they do blend in.

No doubt! Iceburg Cups were wannabe's.

i meant in the fact no other 1*2 was availible in that colour.. one off for the mk2 RS range.. just as an example.

They should have painted it white. Missed opportunity to make it in an exclusive colour and associate it with the race cars.

Trophy should have been white. Thats how i'd be rolling now if that was the case.

That would have looked fecking awesome. However white cars weren't so trendy a few years back, it's only now that it's all the rage.

White comes and goes all the time. Anyone older than 17 knows that. The constant is that it always looks awesome, and considering most racers were white (or mostly white) then it would have been the man's choice for the 172Cup.

White is passe as fcuk. Lookeds good on the Honda's and 147GTA. Thats it really.

It seems to be the trend that economic crisis looms when the cycle of popularity for white cars comes around again.

Either that, or the fashion and economic cycles are coordinated by chance.

To my mind, white cheapens a car (consider that almost every car in your stereotypical cheesy overseas holiday resorts are white) and only looks *outstanding* on exotica or special editions (granted, a Trophy is a special edition, but looks like a lowly Clio to a non-petrol head - an RS could never be mistaken for a normal Focus; Though it may be mistaken for a "Halfords Speziale" :rasp:).

For instance, I followed a white A5 today and it looked like a f*cking taxi. Sucks to be the poor sap that specced that car...

awesome car love mine the only thing i was keen on was the seats but has ph1 leather in at present. I havent driven any other 1*2 to compare however. Mine is my daily drive doing 70miles a day which i dont like putting on the car but great fun!

  MG B roadster/172 cup
I've had mine for three weeks now and i love it. Had to venture out of the office for work today, Plymouth to Launceston and back again, twisty A roads, so much fun, fairly quiet during the day.

I think my past cars set me up perfectly for the cup, a classic mini followed by an MGB roadster, i feel like the cup has every mod con in the world lol, what heated rear screen, intermitent wipers, a heater that works, electric windows, trip computer!? Its clear to me that none of these are really needed and the cup could've been lighter still, heavy motors for electric windows etc, but i suppose that some people are so soft nowadays that they'll moan about not having air con... But at the same time my cup does have air con, there are little buttons on each of the doors that turn it on or off.

The 172 Cup is focused on handling and lightness, not on how many extras can be bolted to it like A/C, Xenons etc. they all add weight. I chose a Cup because of this and if I wanted something just for show with all the gizmos I would buy something else. Just got mine last week without any extras and I'm thinking of lightening it even more by going to manual mirrors, window winders and removing the sound insulation, now let me see----------what else can I remove?
