I want a clio 172/182 so bad!

  Fiat Panda 100hp
I havn't driven, or been driven in a 172/182 yet but I have driven my Mums Golf TDI, and that I thought was silly quick, so can't imagine how fast the sports are.

I had planned on leaving college and getting a job this summer, and then getting a loan from parents and getting a sport with my soon to be 2yrs ncb, but now I want to go to Uni, and this means I am going to be as skint as, living on 9p cans of beans lol.

Just means I have to wait 3 more years to get one! :( on the bright side, the price will have droped a lot in 3 yrs lol.

all good things come to those who wait.

i got mine when i left uni when i got my first proper money job. it is much cheaper one yr older, insurnace is cheap, servicing is cheap for what it is an i would imagine much more enjoyable than having to scrimp and save or be tied into a long loan.

The 172 isn't the greatest thing ever though. No point IMO ever skinting yourself or having to stop doing anything just because of a car.

Live your life, save some money, then get whatever car you want :)

A chick is still gonna bang ya if you drive a 100 quid wreck :p

loads around for cheap money. CCopies bus on this site was case in point of a bus being good VFM.

youd be surprised what you can get for not too much cash

Conteo, just think of all the NCB you'll have once you leave Uni. It took me 5 years to save for my first Caterham 7 but it was worth it when I went to pick it up :D

Might be something else you want come 3 years time. Use your student loan to pay for the 172/182. ;)

Please note: I do not condone spending student loans on cars, lol.

I am due to pick up my 182 tonight :) having been looking at them for a while waiting for a nice one to come up, and finally found one at the weekend. It;s a full fat with both cup packs in racing blue with 13,000 on it and looks and feels great! I have waited for a long time for insurance to come down and have spent the last 5 years driving a 1.1 106, and i reckon being patient and experiencing that side of motoring will make it even more sweeter when i get this one! Booked a 3 night break in the New Forest this weekend and hopefully will find some nice driving roads.

Any tips from anyone? The tyres need to be changed in the next six months so hopefully i can take it on track once or twice before i get them done.

Agree with edde. More important things than cars at the end of the day. I'm 25 and only now looking to buy a 172/182 just because I prioritised other stuff

Trust me in 3 years time you aint gonna be looking twice at the 172/182..

The 172/182 arent rocket ships.. they are 'nippy' is all I would say.

I disagree with that man. In 3 years, new cars will be heavier, bigger, slower and more expensive. The 182's will still be lighter, smaller, faster and less expensive.

....and you can buy mine in 2010... for about £3,000 I would guess.

Slower?? Look back 3 years, were the average POS 1.2s as quick as todays 1.2s ?? That's all you need ask.

I am getting a 182 in 2 months (insurance renewal) and if it's charm lasts on me, shall keep it for more than a year. Doubtful to be longer as it's still a clio in all fairness.
