i want my clio cup to pop now and again :(

  cup 182
may sound immature lol but my pals focus rs and corsa vxr both pop now and again mostly in 2nd gear when slowing down, and sound great, is it because they are turbo,d or can i do anything to get my cup 172 to pop a little bit aswell and what would i need to do?

The pops & bangs map does a bit more than just popping and banging;

Gone back to the 98 ron map now as it was doing my head in! (only had it two weeks)

My pops & bangs map lasted a week... 24mpg no thanks!

I've been on a few track days now with people with this map and my god it sounds pony.

I'm sure it looks/sounds good in front of your mates going down the dual carriageway, but anywhere else you just look like a bellend.

Turbo does it and I don't drive it enough to get fed up. .

But that's supposed to do it. Wooshing and suckingand banging is all part of boosted fun. A 170bhp clio banging its tits off looks a bit daft.

Horses for courses though.

i would prefer it to pop once now and again the focus rs seems to do it just in 2nd gear and pops once, id rather that than have it popping non stop

I think I would like it for ten mins. Then when people looked, the novelty would wear off pretty quickly

Some clios pop and bang like f**k (see first video), others just let off the one.

Pops & bangs is w*nk IMO. Not convinced by the long term effects of running such a map either personally.

Straight through system with de cat would sound like amplified thunder. Would be my choice.

This is all thats needed.

I have a straight through exhaust with 100cell sports cat, if i get it right (not very often lol) it will pop on upshift!

And gurgle n pop on run down regardless.

It dorsn't dump enough fuel in to cause bore wash :)
chipmk1 iirc pointed out in a thread once what damages it can do over a lengthy period of time.

Baffles is one yes, cat in situ is another.

Long & short of it is, the results of running this map over a period of time is likely to cause wear/damage items I'm sure we all agree.

Mine was beyond stupid lolz. It would go silent for like 5 seconds then knock out the loudest of bangs, if cops ever heard it I imagine they would of just took it off me there and then and crushed it lol
@Tunst heard them a few times lol.

The flames in 4th gear that would light up the entire rear of the car plus both lanes of a dual carriage way at night were just plain mental.

Probably why mine eventually dropped a valve/valves lol.

think il just go for a decat pipe and see how it goes tbh as iv watched a few vids and alot of the pops and bangs are abit to xtreme for me, i was just wanting a nice mild pop like the focus rs does every once in a while when slowing down not constant loud back firing type pops if you know what i mean

I get zero pops/bangs from my decat milltek, apart from when its cold which isnt really the appropriate time to do so lol.

Turbo cars are alot easier to get the noise. Imo you will probably hate it after a week or two. But if you want to do it, try it mate.

It's not recommended in case you brick your ECU in the middle of nowhere, but it's possible to switch between the maps on the go with a laptop. Park up, plug in, remap, 5 minutes later you're popping and banging. When finished go back to the standard RS tuner map.

Personally I think it's a bit rice but I don't utterly detest it like some people do. Obviously it will wear your car out more but that's the same with anything tbh.
